The best plugin so far for confluence that I have come across. This is helping keep pages approved across the company making sure not only are the programing documents correct, but the KB and Department spaces with approved information only being shown to the end user. Keep up the good work! Excellent support as well!

The plugin itself seems pretty good but the documnetation is absolutely appaling. the "How to" videos are worsr than useless. They run through at lightning speed how to operate workflows which have already been setup. They do not help with configuring the workflo at all. It is quite powerful but making this tool useful needs a Huge amount of effort. The Jury is still out on whether that effort will prove worthwhile. The graphical representation of workflows simply doesn't work at all. Support from the vendor has not been useful.

Hi Julian. Sorry to hear about the problems you're having with the addon, and for not responding in a timely manner to your support request. Somebody will follow up wih you very soon. Getting to take full advantage of all the features of Comala Workflows require some work. We've been working on the product for several years to make it easier to get going but we agree on that there is still a bit of work to do. The documentation is something we also have to continue working on, and I agree on that we need a simpler, better paced way to explain how to get all the pieces going. We are actually working on new training videos which we are going to make available soon. Getting started with a new product is difficult, and it can be very frustrating getting proper support. And a product solving a complex problem requires better documentation and support. I think we failed in helping you gettting started, apologies for that. We will get back to you soon. Recent bug: Supposing user A has a page that user B can view but only A can edit, if the page's workflow (I mean any kind of workflows) is activated later, then user B is no longer able to view that page again which is unreasonable. It is a very useful plugin to promote the value of Confluence's collaboration. The workflow engine provided is already very powerful to cover the most of usage requirements, however, I think there're still a lot work to do to improve the user experience in both managing workflows (especially customizing) and using workflows. Currently the interaction way is too technology-oriented and almost impossible for general users to configure in their own spaces.

Hi Wesley, Thank you for your review. What you are seeing is not a bug, but expected behaviour as by default Comala Workflows only shows published versions to users who only have view permissions. Once that page has a published version again, the view only user will be able to see that version. If you are applying the workflow to the entire space, the easiest way to publish all the pages is to use the space initialization. Or you can change the "Workflow Activity and Drafts Visibility" option to "Anybody" on the global and/or space Workflows "Configuration" page, which will allow all users to see drafts and published versions. If you would like more support on this issue, please email us at support@comalatech.com. We are also looking into improving our workflow designer to make it easier for users to design their own workflows. It is just taking time to figure out the best way as its not easy to represent the same level of configuration, that workflow markup allows, in a user interface that is easy to use and understand. Thanks, Miguel

It is a decent plugin but ultimately falls a bit short of what i'm looking for. I want the ability for the reviewers to provide "inline" comments as part of the review. Granted you can always add comments as part of the native Confluence but they are disconnected w/ the exact content being commented on. There are in line plugins like Talk but was hoping for one "confluence review" plugin. That would be a winner.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

    How does add-on pricing work?

Just like your Atlassian host application, there are two pricing models for add-ons. Pick the model that matches your Atlassian product, and the same rules apply:

    Server pricing

    • Products and add-ons are hosted on your servers.
    • Licenses last forever and include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).
    • You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price.
    • You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

    Cloud pricing

    • Products and add-ons are hosted by Atlassian.
    • You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.
    • Your subscription automatically renews every month. Annual pricing is also available.
    • Your pricing tier for host products and add-ons is automatically upgraded (as necessary) when you add users to your instance.

    Price changes

    • If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.
How do I determine my pricing tier?

Choose the same user tier you pay for in the Atlassian host application. For example, if you have a JIRA Server license for 25 users, you should purchase this tier. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your host application license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

Add-on purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application.

Add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

You can extend your Server add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Free Trial and you'll be directed to generate a license at MyAtlassian. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

You cannot extend your Cloud free evaluation period. All Cloud add-ons are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation of period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the add-on.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA or Confluence license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.
