    Plugin configuration

Scans all spaces in the current Confluence instance and builds up a list of attachments which are never referenced using a link or are never embedded as images into any page, blog post or comment.

The list of unused attachments can be filtered by space, attachment file name or comment, sorted by file name, size or creation date and displays the time elapsed since the last search was performed (search result age).

The plugin has a Configuration tab which allows customizing the behavior of both the search process and the display of its list of search results using session level or global level configuration settings.

Thank you for developping products. I tested and felt current version have some problems. It makes no distinction between attached files on file-list and others. Generally, file-list use to only for attachment, so often not refered to other pages. And it can't detect files of gliffy plug-in. Even if I have gliffy diagram on confluence page, this plug-in reports "they are unused files". I think deleting files based on plug-in report is dangerous at this time. And I sent questions to their support about this a week ago. Unfortunately I would not receive response yet.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your feedback.

The "File List Blueprint" that is shipped with Confluence by default creates pages which contain the Attachments Macro. This macro has some properties which allow filtering attachments based on filename pattern or labels. So not all attachments could thus be referenced when the macro is included on a page. This is why we have mentioned the Attachments Macro, Space Attachments Macro and the Gallery Macro in our list of "Known Limitations" in the documentation at:

    http://alutustech.com/confluentis_unused_attachments.html#known-limitations

We are going to deal with these limitations in a future release, but until then, you can make use of labels to mark the pages that should be ignored when it comes to identifying unused attachments. In the case of the file-list pages, the blueprint also assigns the "file-list" label to the pages that it creates, so you could add this label in the plugin configuration as explained here:

    http://alutustech.com/confluentis_unused_attachments.html#global-configuration

While dealing with the built-in macros mentioned above would be possible in a future release, taking care of Gliffy attachment references or any other third party plugin macro attachmens references would be more challenging and would probably not make it into our list of improvements. We could maybe add more configuration settings to be able to specify which macros to look for in a page in order to identify potential false positives, such as the ones brought by a Gliffy macro.

    Thank you!

Found via: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-16577. This is a great attachment. Helped me easily find and delete an enormous amount of unused attachments. Some additions that would be nice: - show attachment file size in search results - show summary with total attachment count and total size. When filtering by space, show totals only for filtered space - option to suppress notifications when deleting attachment - option to somehow hide or only include image based attachments (.png, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, etc). We have many pages that have Excel, Visio, PDF attachments just to store them, but may not be referenced on the page. - Possibly ignore pages that use the Gallery macro? We have a few pages with just image attachment dumps that are using the Gallery macro to display them

    Hello, Chris

Thank you for your feedback. All very good points. We'll start working on adding a configuration page for all these and other options to allow customizing the tool.

Stay tuned for an update of the add-on coming soon.

    Thank you!

P.S. Version 1.0.3 of the plugin having the majority of the suggested features was published on January 8th, 2017.

I'm not sure if this is good or not. I restored my production backup to a testing Confluence and was ready to make a batch deletion, so that I would see if everything would still be normal after that. However, it seemed like I could only delete unused attachment one by one. I have sent an email to the support 3 days ago and got no response yet. I hope I would get some kind of help by posting a review here.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your feedback.

Initially, when we used this plugin for our own purpose, we wanted to check the reason why each attachment ended up unused, before deleting it. We did not have such need to delete them all without checking them one by one.

But I see that for others, it would be very useful to be able to delete all unused attachments without any prior check. We now consider adding a selection checkbox to each row and a button to delete selected attachments. This means we would also need a way to fast select all attachments. There will probably be a need for an option to delete all attachments, including the ones that do not appear on the current page and thus be part of the selection.

We'll work on it and let you know when this will be ready.

    Thank you!

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your host product. The app tier should match the licensed user tier of the Atlassian host product. For example, if you have a Confluence Server license for 25 users, you should purchase the 25-user tier for apps. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your host product license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server apps, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host product. Server apps are always free for community and open-source licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian host product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
