Despite some of the other reviews, the macro does work. But you have to click the "edit" button and type your code into a dialog in order to get anything out of it. And changing the theme, similarly requires you to "edit" the macro instead of the content.
The macro doesn't render the content or the updated theme until the page is published. As a result, my workflow has been to use the standard code macro if I'm coding on the fly and then going back to paste that in the new macro. For me, the dialog encourages copy and paste instead of freeform writing. And that can be a deal-breaker for a lot of people. In fact, I'm realizing that I'm using the other macro anyway and making more work by switching to the new macro.
The macro advertises snippet hosting from github and bitbucket. But I don't see any of that in the list of macros or in any of the options within the macro dialog.
Overall, you can choose to use this macro if you're looking for more themes than what's offered in Confluence Cloud or if you're looking for a code macro with a convenient "copy to clipboard" function. If one of those is driving your decision, then it's worth taking a look at. But until the other features work "out of the dialog box", I don't see myself using this macro in the future.

Availablity as Server/Data Center app would be cool.

The link to the documentation is broken. Where can I find documentation?
Also, this add-on is listed as Unsupported. Is Atlassian not supporting the Atlassian Labs add-ons?
It seems as though the GitHub Gist/Bitbucket Snippet embedding functionality is broken in the new editor. I am able to embed snippets/gists into pages that default to the old editor view without issue.

Excellent point, this seems to be a Bug in Confluence. I've reported it here: https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/AC-2525

It doesn't work :(
