    This addon has important limitations which are not disclosed in any of the documentation (documentation is clearly lacking). It automatically adds each user created to the jira-software-users and jira-servicedesk-users groups. You cannot control or stop this. This is problematic when you need more users than will ever log into your system (other users needed to be able to select them from lists, etc). In my case, I needed to import 500+ users, but only have a 25-user license. With this addon, it is not possible to do that. The vendor insisted that the "API" automatically adds users to these groups when a user is created. This is clearly not true as the createUser method of the UserManager object takes a UserDetails object which has no group information in it, and there are other addons that provide a way to create a user independent from assigning them to a group. I was not able to get the addon to import even one line of a CSV to create one user. It threw a generic error with a link to Request Support which did absolutely nothing. My interactions with support were not helpful. Contacting Atlassian for a refund. Only giving 1 star because it won't let me have 0 stars. I just finished creating 570 users in my 25-user license system using the Jira Command Line Interface addon. NONE of these users are in any group and it took me about 15 minutes. The API does not automatically do it/force it. The quantity of emails to support isn't the measure of quality support. The poor rating was not due to lack of support responsiveness to my emails. It was that they lied about the API forcing them to add users to these groups and the documentation not even mentioning this.

    • Inconvenient fact number 1 is that the API does in fact add these groups and it is not controlled by the add-on.
    • Good luck trying to create 500+ users with a 25 user licence.
    • Plenty of other customers have managed to operate this add-on without a problem.
    • Your interactions with support consisted of 9 separate emails over two days and it is beyond belief that you can describe these as unhelpful just because you did not get the answer you wanted to hear.

    Does the job, but with annoying twists: - no validation of CSV columns or consideration for CSV header... Just assumes the order of the columns. - automatically adds users to a default group, even if Group column doesn't include said default group. - would like to have the plugin assign different emails itself without my specifying it in the CSV - would like to have the plugin assign unique usernames. - would like to have the plugin add support for extra custom properties (phone #, fax #, address) I would post this in a support request, but I get a Gateway timeout error when logging a question.

    To answer the points in order:

    • I am not sure why you would have the column headers in a different order to the data beneath it?
    • The default group is assigned within JIRA and not something that can be controlled in the plugin.
    • On what basis could emails be assigned - surely this is a task for the spreadsheet input?
    • Surely a task for the spreadsheet input?
    • How can the plugin 'know' what these customs properties would be?

    There is an email link on the Support tab so why not use that?

    How does server add-on pricing work?

    Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

    You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

    If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

    How do I determine my server pricing?

    Add-ons are billed based on the number of users in your host product. For JIRA Server 7.0 or later, the add-on tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA products on your instance. For example, if you're running JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 50-user tier for add-ons. For versions of JIRA Server prior to 7.0, the add-on tier should match the licensed user tier for JIRA. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your JIRA license, the two licenses should match exactly.Note: While this add-on has features specific to JIRA Service Desk, the add-on is technically available across the whole JIRA instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

    Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

    For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host product. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses.

    Can I extend my free trial?

    For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host product, and you're all set.

    How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

    If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.

    1. Log into your JIRA instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Atlassian Marketplace. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate Bulk User Creator for JIRA via search. The appropriate add-on version appears in the search results.
    5. Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for Bulk User Creator for JIRA. You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian. Bulk User Creator for JIRA begins to download.
    6. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
    7. Click Apply license. If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your JIRA instance.
