The plugin provides a substantial business value and makes things a lot easier. However, when the number of issues hits the 200k mark and JIRA freezes due to memory leaks, all charm is gone. A business decision suggested by the vendor to prohibit 3000+ users from using certain JQL queries is simply not going to work, especially in a multinational organisation.

HI Sebastian, We are limited by JIRA API and it's not technically possible to write solution that will not cause memory and performance problems when query is collecting thousands of issues. However we will try to improve plugin us much as we can. Please check the newest version: 2.3.0 which brings lots of memory and performance improvements. It should now work with much larger queries. In future version we are planing to add features that would help JIRA Administrator to quickly detect and stop queries that would freeze JIRA.

Rating the plugin with 1 star only as it brought our JIRA instance to knees in terms of performance. It should really be 0 stars. CPU usage was hitting 95-100% pretty much all the time and adding CPU cores didn't help. We were having users complaining about JIRA performance and were pulling hair because pretty much nothing helped. After tweaking JVM parameters, adding RAM and CPU cores which didn't help, we disabled plugins one by one and after disabling this one the CPU usage came back to normal - as measured by Java Melody, the tool to gather metrics. So if you want to pay for this plugin to kill your JIRA - go for it! It certainly took a lot of time, effort and ultimately, budget to fix the performance issues caused by this plugin.

Hi guys, We had lot of performance troubles before installing new version(2.3.0), but now it seems, that things are moving. I recently checked queries from filters, which are using your extended jql functionality, and honestly I can say, that performance was significantly improved. Yet, there are few queries, which still are performance un-friendly :), but it's definetely improvement comparing to previous version. Keep up the good work.

Rating one star - due to the fact that nothing at all in the release notes for the new version indicates that this suddenly costs money and requires a license.

    Hi Todd,

We respect your opinion. But we believe that your review is not based on your experience with the features the plugin provides or on the quality of our support. Instead it simply reflects your emotions having seen the price.

We have updated the release notes with information You want. But this information was already announced in our documentation, even in previous responses for user comments (just few lines below this one..). So there is no sudden change here. Especially when previous versions are still free, only new one is not. Feel free to grab them. You have even the access to their source code.

We have reached 4k downloads and each month we are spending fair amount of time on support with answering questions and producing new features. But the scale for such work after two years and twelve versions does simply not qualify to be free. So we picked most wanted feature, implemented and push as a first paid version. For 10$ :) for most license tiers.

I will not argue whether 10 $ is too much or fair for what you get. For us this is a the price to take further support and maintenance the add-on. And this is the only option we have.

Please, consider to review our add-on being based on a personal experience with the add-on not on emotions.

    Regards,

    Piotr Bojko

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

    How does add-on pricing work?

Just like your Atlassian host application, there are two pricing models for add-ons. Pick the model that matches your Atlassian product, and the same rules apply:

    Server pricing:

    • Products and add-ons are hosted on your servers.
    • Licenses last forever and include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).
    • You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the original purchase price.
    • You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

    Cloud pricing:

    • Products and add-ons are hosted by Atlassian.
    • You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.
    • Your subscription automatically renews every month. Annual pricing is also available.
    • Your pricing tier for host products and add-ons is automatically upgraded (as necessary) when you add users to your instance.
How do I determine my pricing tier?

Choose the same user tier you pay for in the Atlassian host application. For example, if you have a JIRA Server license for 25 users, you should purchase this tier.

Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your host application license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

Add-on purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application.

Add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

You can extend your Server add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Free Trial and you'll be directed to generate a license at MyAtlassian. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

You cannot extend your Cloud free evaluation period. All Cloud add-ons are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation of period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the add-on.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA or Confluence license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.
