    I could tell you how much I love this plug in from Software Plant but first, I will let you bask in these compliments from a gang who is normally a tough crowd: "Wow, this BigGantt really makes JIRA shine" - a developer "This makes my life so much easier" - a QA tester "If it doesn't already come through in my voice, I am very very happy with this tool" - My Boss The BigGantt plug in for JIRA Cloud is by far the easiest, quickest, and most fun way to harness your JIRA stories into a meaningful, time based project plan. It is beautiful in its elegance and simplicity. If you can write a JQL, then you can suck your JIRA stuff into this tool. If you can drag and drop, then you can build a Gantt. There's almost no learning curve, and the user guide is easy to understand. I am here to praise BigGantt, rather than to criticize other tools, so I will say only this: I test drove three other tools that claim to do what BigGantt does. One of those tools survived beyond the free trial period to the duration of one month. None of them made the cut. I can't tell you how long it has been now that we are using BigGantt, because I have blocked those memories of our project management dark ages. If you are looking for a way to make sense of your JIRA land, through the lens of a classic project plan, with a timeline, then there is nothing better out there for your JIRA cloud instance. We were even able to get it to build a release plan for us, using JIRA's fixVersion field. One more thing, the folks at SoftwarePlant are the nicest, most conscientious gang I have ever bought software from. They respond to all of my support requests with a personal touch and a true desire to help. They are proud of their product and respectful of their customers. The only thing that I wish was different is that SoftwarePlant would hurry up and release their resource management tool for JIRA Cloud. We are in desperate need of the utility, and although it is available for the Server version, it is not out on the Cloud version yet. We anxiously await it!! You will not regret trying out BigGantt, and don't be surprised if you fall in love with it too.

    Couldn't even start a trial of the Cloud version on a brand new JIRA Cloud instance. Could never get the "INVALID LICENCE" message to go away, which meant it was always in read only mode and couldnt be operated. This wouldn't warrant a 1-star review on its own - software is hard - but the documentation links go to inappropriate pages, and even the support link on this page goes to the wrong place. I couldn't possibly recommend this product to my clients, and therefore not to you, either.

    Looks great. Installation process on the cloud is brutal. I've followed the instructions both in the video and the wiki, neither will let me actually use it, just says needs browse user permissions, of which I've triple checked to ensure it has, with no luck. This might be more of an Atlassian thing but I don't think installing a paid app should be so complex.

    It is quite unstable and even doing basic stuff is often a problem. If you report a bug answer can be something like this: "It happens sometimes just do it manually" - well yeah do it manually - hundreds of issues... Also asking to provide full administration rights to their email is not something what you will be wiling to do...

We do realize that some issues with the Cloud version of the plugin might have caused a user to encounter few problems, especially in its first months after the official release. And yes, in some cases a manual troubleshooting was required, though we are trying to implement hot-fixes to all of our plugins as often as possible.

    We do not request administrative rights to anyone's e-mail. In most cases we offer a WebEx troubleshooting session with screen sharing, where user reproduces the issue and one or two of SoftwarePlant team members guides them through the plugin set-up in order to resolve that specific issue. In some cases, when the above is not possible, customers offer a creation of a JIRA account with administrative rights to their environment in order to test, reproduce and fix some issues, though this usually takes legal forms like NDA.

    Please let us know if the issue you've struggled with still persists or maybe if it was fixed with the later releases of the BigGantt.

    Very slow to create a chart (from a tiny test project). Came up with meaningless errors. Took no notice of assignments, scheduled all tasks simultaneously. Could drag them manually but not link them. If you did this, the change this was forgotten if you created a new chart. Changing the estimated time of a task had no effect on the chart; you have to make a new chart, which will have forgotten everything you did.

    Every update breaks it and it never asked before making an update or sends a detailed message on what exactly has changed. The staff have been really patient and helpful in solving the issues that I have been experiencing but the wait time for them to resolve the issues are just not worth the updates. I am back in square one again, the app doesn't load properly and is picky on when it loads....

    Thank you for the review. Warnings which you've started receiving are most likely caused by the inappropriate setup of screen schemes which is a source of 'miscommunication' between the plugin and a JIRA project. Even though you did not receive these messages before the issue persisted and it is recommended to fix it to avoid problems with the add-on and a project in the future.

    Full documentation with a 'how-to' video can be found in this article. To learn more about warnings pop-ups in your plugin, I would also recommend to get familiar with this know-how.

    How does cloud app pricing work?

    Cloud pricing is subscription based. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

    When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for host products and apps based on the number of users in your instance.

    If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

    How do I determine my cloud pricing?

    Apps are billed based on the number of users in your host product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

    The pricing structure for cloud products and apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 host product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.
    • If per-user pricing is not yet available for this app, please contact the vendor for further information.

    If you've opted for annual billing for your host product, apps are also billed annually at a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

    Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

    Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

    Can I extend my free trial?

    For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    How does server app pricing work?

    Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

    You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

    Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

    For server apps, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host product. Server apps are always free for community and open-source licenses.

    Can I extend my free trial?

    For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian host product, and you're all set.

    How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

    If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.

    Installation

    1. Log into your Jira instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Atlassian Marketplace. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate BigGantt via search. The appropriate app version appears in the search results.
    5. Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for BigGantt. You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian. BigGantt begins to download.
    6. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
    7. Click Apply license. If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your Jira instance.

    To find older BigGantt versions compatible with your instance, you can look through our version history page.
