    More details

The Delegated Project Creator for JIRA add-on allows JIRA administrators to create templates of the schemes needed for commonly used project configurations. Create as many different templates as you need to handle new project requests.

Then, identify the trusted groups who can create projects from those templates, or request projects. Those trusted group members can then do self-service of your routine project requests, freeing up your JIRA Administrators for more important work!

A history is maintained of all project requests, collecting valuable information about who requested a project and why.

Its a great plugin and we have used it for a couple of years now but im lacking one functionallity and that is to have the possibility to select which context for for custom fields should be used. The use case is that its suggested to reuse custom fields as much as possible but different projects have different needs for values in for example drop downs. So I want to have the possibility to select which context to use for the template without having to manually select the desired project to the list. The other use is that some custom fields may contain a huge amount of pre populated data. If specific projects are not selected in the context it means that every issue in every project will get this data even though the field is not on the screen itself. This results in tables that uses a lot of unnecessary disk space.

This saves us a whole lot of time trying to match up all the different schemes to new projects. We just hit a button and go!

If you create projects regularly, this add-on is a must have. The template process is really well implemented. We've even given a small group of our users the ability to spin up new projects on their own, based on 5 or 6 template types that we've created. For anyone outside that group the add-on makes it dead simple for them to just "request" one of those templates, that we can then approve and create for them in a couple clicks. An absolute essential for larger JIRA deployments. Bravo guys!

Frankly I'm shocked by the 7x price increase in this plugin. We were one of the first supporters and gave feedback to the developer at the time. In fact we're still using v1.1.1 and have been happy to pay $200 for the basic functionality we need. Can't believe it costs $1400 p.a. now. Please consider offering a Lite version with the original 2013-era functionality.

Hi Daniel. Thank you so much for your early support and feedback. It's thoughtful product feedback and encouragement like yours that's motivated us to invest so deeply in Delegated Project Creator over the last few years. It's helped us to build many of our awesome new features, and evolve it into the incredibly powerful toolset that it is today.

To support all of our early customers who've been so supportive to us, we've launched a new Grandfather Program. Just shoot us an email at grandfathered@wittified.com and we'll be happy to help. Thanks so much again!

Once a project is created and you are set as the project administrator through this plugin, you are not allowed to change the schemes later. It would be good if this can be achieved.

    Hi Hiruna,

This is something we're looking into as a future version of Delegated Project Creator for JIRA. In the mean time, we do have another add-on that you may want to investigate Delegated Administration Pro for JIRA which allows you to delegate the switching of schemes (As well as maintain them locally).

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server add-on pricing work?

Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing tier?

For JIRA Server 7.0 or later, the add-on tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you're running JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 50-user tier for add-ons.

For versions of JIRA Server prior to 7.0, the add-on tier should match the licensed user tier for JIRA. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your JIRA license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Note: While this add-on has features specific to JIRA Service Desk, the add-on is technically available across the whole JIRA instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.

    Version 2.5.5-70 JIRA Server 7.0.0 - 7.3.5 Released 2017-02-27

Bug fix release related to disabled administrators

If a JIRA instance had an administrator in the system that was disabled and the username was named such a way that it was the first in the administrator group - the delegated creation of projects to non-administrator might not work correctly. This release resolves this issue.

    1. Log into your JIRA instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Atlassian Marketplace. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate Delegated Project Creator for JIRA via search. The appropriate add-on version appears in the search results.
    5. Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for Delegated Project Creator for JIRA. You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian. Delegated Project Creator for JIRA begins to download.
    6. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
    7. Click Apply license. If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your JIRA instance.
