In general it is nice to have this option and the usability is not bad (of course it is not Excel). These are the reasons why I likely will not use it: 1. If I make a PDF out of a page that includes a spreadsheet, it will not appear on the PDF. 2. I could not find another way to export the spreadsheet into e.g. Excel or at least into a PDF (I absolutely will not use the detour over MS Word). 3. The appearance is very different from a regular Confluence table. This kind of breaks the visual appearance of a page. 4. It is fairly complicated to just SUM things up. I'm o.k. with it, however my team is not (I can be happy if they post a comment and create a simple page). 5. There is no shortcut to add a table. One must go into the "other Macro" area which feels like a programming step that my team will not do.

    Hi Markus,

Thanks for your review and comments.

My 1st question would be, which version of Spreadsheets are you using ? It seems to us that you may be using an old version because since our version 2 we have made quite a few improvements that address the issues you seem to encounter.

    • Regarding your point 1, this has been solved in our 2.1.0 June release, you will now see your Spreadhseets table in the PDF
    • Point 2 is already raised in an issue https://valiantys.atlassian.net/browse/SPREAD-100 so our dev team will look into a functionality that will allow you to export your spreadsheets directly into Excel in a future release.
    • Point 3, since release 2.0 the integration with Confluence has greatly been improved. The appearance of the tables look like Confluence tables.
    • Point 4, we are sorry if you do not appreciate the ergonomy of spreadsheets, we try to get as close as possible to the standards. If you have suggestions, we’ll be happy to take them into account for future releases.
    • Point 5, it was our choice to add in the “other macro” area our add-on because we didn’t want to be too intrusive for our customers as if we have the macro in the drop down menu it will be there for all our customers, and some may not want to have it for all their users. However there is a shortcut you can use in your Confluence page : you can type {spreadsheets and it will insert the macro

We hope we have answered your concerns. If you have suggestions of improvements, you can raise an issue via our support platform. We encourage you to download our latest release and please do let us know if it works better for you.

    Cheers

While I like the ability to have the integrated spreadsheets, the fact that you cannot actually export the spreadsheet into Excel is terrible. You cannot even copy/paste into Excel, all fields, except the header populate in Column A of the spreadsheet. You can export the whole page to Word, then copy and paste the table into Excel, but that's pretty clunky. Also, you cannot delete an entire row which is strange. You can insert a row, but I don't see anyway, not even using Ctrl-X to delete a row. Formatting is minimal, Alt-enter doesn't work, and if you have lengthy text, it all becomes one big blob of words. Hyperlinks do not import, and cannot be added. The best work around is to paste the URL's then you have to copy the url and paste into your browser. Additionally, It's not possible to highlight a specific line of text or change the color, only to change the text color of an entire cell. The spreadsheets also seem to have inherited some of the less desirable features of the tables, like the inability to freeze the headers to show when scrolling, and the fact that you have to scroll to the bottom of the page, to be able to scroll to the right (in view mode).

Hello Amy! Thanks for your feedback and for raising these improvements you need. We already have many of them planned in our roadmap, and I can help on some others.

The two other issues you raise are super interesting, although we haven't yet planned to add them to the product. If you find any other use cases, or missing features you'd like to be added to our roadmap, please log a ticket in our dedicated JIRA.

Bought Spreadsheets knowing that it wouldn't have the same level of functionality as Excel, but for our purposes that was a perfectly acceptable trade-off for having integrated spreadsheet functionality in Confluence such that relatively simple spreadsheets could be created in situ or imported. Have recently upgraded to the latest version of spreadsheets and I'm very pleased with the new look and the new functionality (mainly spreadsheets displayed as tables allowing copy & paste, proper printing).

Doesn't seem to be able to add links to things such as other confluence pages or URLs. Does not display the table while in page edit mode. Cannot highlight a group of cells and drag to new position. when making or editing an equation, I can't seem to figure out how to get the variable cells to highlight. Cell selection is a bit glitchy. I have to close the page and reopen it from time to time to get it to highlight correctly. It does allow you to do the very basic spreadsheet activities such as tables, simple equations, cell and txt formatting, adding subtracting rows/columns... There are not too many other options out there, so I hope this product evolves quickly.

    Hello Brice,

Thanks a lot for having reviewed SpreadSheets. Our developer team tries to improve SpreadSheets every day by taking our users' needs into account. We know many improvements would be most welcome and are actually asked by many other users. SpreadSheets has been made to be pretty straightforward to use and thus of course a few features have been left aside.

However, many improvements will be put in the future releases by the help of our customers' requests. If you would like to see any new feature or improvement in SpreadSheets, you can reach the developer team at any time by raising a Change request on our Support platform: https://valiantys.atlassian.net.

Thank you for contributing to our products' improvement.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does cloud add-on pricing work?

Cloud pricing is subscription based. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, your pricing tier for host products and add-ons is automatically adjusted (as necessary) based on the number of users in your instance.

If you've opted for annual billing for your host product, add-ons are also billed annually. Annual subscriptions for this add-on include a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing tier?

The cloud add-on tier is set automatically based on the license tier of the host application. For example, if you have a Confluence Cloud license for 25 users, your add-on tier is 25 users.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud add-ons, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud add-ons are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the add-on.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server add-on pricing work?

Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing tier?

The add-on tier should match the licensed user tier of the Atlassian host application. For example, if you have a Confluence Server license for 25 users, you should purchase the 25-user tier for add-ons. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your host application license, the two licenses should match exactly.

For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.
