The whosediting plugin for Confluence shows a hint if the current page or blogpost is being edited by one or more other users. This is especially useful in instances with collaborative editing turned off.

Has a lot of performance issues, my log files are full of messages like "close Exceeded the threshold of 60000 ms: ActivitySnapshot{startTime=1445344128438, threadId=615644, threadName='http-bio-8090-exec-18333', userId='<unknown>', type='web-request', summary='/plugins/whosediting/whosediting.action'}" would like to uninstall it but facing the problem reported already by others, I just need to wait for a new version fixing the problem

    hi David,

we fixed that error message in the newly released version 1.1. Unfortunately, even after installing that version, you will still need to have your clients reload the browser window in order for the log messages to disappear.

I've got the same issue as @Rob Kearey had where it does not uninstall cleanly and leaves actions behind. I have submitted an issue here: https://tngtech-oss.atlassian.net/browse/CWE-2 but since there's been no activity since 2013, I worry that I'm going to be left with Confluence wasting memory and cycles trying to action a plugin that no longer exists.

Hi Bradley, we try to solve your issue (as you may have seen). I think we repond very quickly for an open source plugin and as we have 175 running installations and not a lot of complains by reviews or tickets, there was no need to change anything since 2013 (that why no process is done since then). Can you provide us more information about the chattyness as we also use it within our Confluence but haven't encountered load or performance problems?

Incredibly chatty over the proxy, adds significant overhead to page rendering. Also cannot be uninstalled or disabled cleanly. Would love to create a ticket, but the specified jira address doesn't give me permissions to create one.

Hi Rob, yes, this plugin adds some overhead of polling the server (same as regular Confluence heartbeat does). So this cannot be changed, however what problem have you got while disabling/uninstalling? Would you please file an issue on https://tngtech-oss.atlassian.net/projects/CWE with the exceptions/problem such that we can have a look at it and fix it? Thanks and best regards, Andreas

It shows me wether my colleagues are working on the same page. So we do not overwrite each other. Good Job!
