I've been using Zephyr on and off for 6 years at various companies. And with every iteration they provide the same type of product: Pretty UI, looks good in evaluation, but lacks key features and usability for daily execution. Examples in this latest version that is integrated with JIRA (And attempting to not repeat other reviewers): * Unable to use JQL to search test case execution (must use ZQL). This limits the reporting you can do in the dashboard to the 5 Zephyr specific gadgets. Many of the JIRA out of the box gadgets (like pie charts) aren't compatible with Zephyr fields, like "cycleName" * Poor documentation. All the videos you see for selling the product... that's what you get. To be fair, there really isn't anything more to the product. So, if you watch the documentation thinking, like I did, "well, that seems like a great intro to the product" be aware, it isn't an intro, that's really all there is * Test Cases are in a flat list, no nesting without using other plugins * Unable to see a change history on a test case. If a case is changed you have no idea who did it or when or what it said previously * Poor JIRA integration. As mentioned above, Zephyr isn't really a plugin to JIRA as much as a separate product that uses JIRA UI. It fails to use basic JIRA functionality. Each time I've purchased Zephyr or entered a new company already using it I've had high hopes; and each time I've been let down. The best way to describe this product: Half baked. It looks good on the outside, but is sorely lacking once you get into it. Unfortunately, the test case manager market isn't loaded with amazing tools, so Zephyr might be your best bet with JIRA integration.

Zephyr is a good product. I like that you can link your tests directly to the JIRA item you are working on. I would like to make 2 enhancement requests: 1) ability to clone multiple steps at once 2) Addition of a "Next" button, which allows you to go to the next test. --currently it is a multi click process just to get to the next test you want to execute. ( I am new to Zephyr so maybe there is a way and i just don't know about it??)

Thanks for your feedback, Melissa! We’ve applied both of your enhancement request to our internal feature request system but I did want to point out our Execution Navigator where many of our customers find it easy to access multiple test cases at once via advanced queries – and even have the ability to save queries for reference later on. Using this, you can search for a group of test cases and execute them at a high-level right from a single page. For more information on the Execution Navigator and the ZQL that fuels the advanced querying, see: https://zephyrdocs.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ZFJ0300/Search+Test+Executions

    We hope that helps!

    - All jira users are paid for zephyr. Not qa only! - There is no way to search by text in the test-steps! - Bad perfomance

    hi Alex,

The add-on licenses must be at the same tier as the JIRA instance on which it is being installed. This is the way licensing of all add-ons work in the Atlassian Marketplace, see https://www.atlassian.com/licensing/marketplace#licensingandpricing-1.

We would like to learn more about the bad performance comment if we can help you out. Please get intouch with more details on what you are encountering - cs@getzephyr.com.

Nice plugin and very valuable for QA team to make workflow more efficient. But their pricing is weird.. having QA team smaller than 10 persons you would expect to pay $10/mon right!? Forget it! Zephyr want you to pay for all team that are using JIRA even though only couple QA team member will use Zephyr. Check pricing for your team before even thinking of using Zephyr.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does cloud add-on pricing work?

Cloud products and add-ons are hosted by Atlassian. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

Your subscription automatically renews every month. Annual pricing is also available. Your pricing tier for host products and add-ons is automatically upgraded (as necessary) when you add users to your instance.

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing tier?

The cloud add-on tier is set automatically based on the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you have JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, your add-on tier is 50 users.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud add-ons, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud add-ons are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the add-on.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server add-on pricing work?

Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing tier?

For JIRA Server 7.0 or later, the add-on tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you're running JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 50-user tier for add-ons.

For versions of JIRA Server prior to 7.0, the add-on tier should match the licensed user tier for JIRA. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your JIRA license, the two licenses should match exactly.

For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.
