I found that the Ephor plug-in for JIRA is a very solid platform for managing assets / inventory, and since it runs on JIRA that simplified our installation and integration. The other two JIRA plug-ins I found that do the same thing lack many of the features contained in Ephor. Also one is not intuitive and the other quite unstable. In addition I took a look at available open source products but none met our needs; these included CMDBuild (not a simple install, limited support, inflexible UI), iTop (intricate install and support but a full set of IT tools, overkill for our purposes), and OneCMDB (lack of development and support.) The latest version of Ephor includes key features such as csv file import and export, which is essential for us to migrate data from our old system and to export it to spreadsheets when necessary. Also the addition of access roles that distinguish between reader, editor, and administrator was essential. Finally the search capability and field view templates that can be managed publicly and privately give us the flexibility we need for managing our inventory or generating reports. Although the documentation is a little light, the product is quite intuitive. More importantly the support team at Spartez has been extremely responsive and effective in helping us troubleshoot issues and add new features. That's is one of the primary reasons we are moving ahead with this product. If you own JIRA and need to track inventory, this is a great solution that is also reasonably priced.

Any chance it would be made available for JIRA on Demand users?

Hi Artur, This plugin (Ephor for JIRA) is not available for OnDemand. However, we have a sibling product - Ephor standalone (available from http://ephor.spartez.com/), which you can install locally on your system, and which is able to integrate with JIRA remotely, so it is going to work with OnDemand JIRA. Featurs of these two products are almost identical. The only downside to Ephor standalone is that it does not currently integrate with JIRA Service Desk, because Service Desk does not offer any remotely accessible integration points. I hope this is not a showstopper for you. If you have any additional questions, please contact us directly at support@spartez.com Best Regards Janusz Gorycki, spartez.com

Hi, Is JIRA v5.2 supported? It looks like something I need, so I'd like to evaluate this. Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for your review. Ephor for JIRA is currently 100% supported for JIRA Server 6.0-6.3.1, but you can definitely download the free trial and give it a go with lower JIRA versions. Other than that - there's also the standalone (not JIRA add-on) Ephor version available here: http://ephor.spartez.com. Unlike Ephor for JIRA, Ephor standalone for sure can be integrated with any JIRA version, including JIRA 5.2 (but it doesn't have the JIRA Service Desk integrability feature). If you come across any problems please feel free to contact us at support@spartez.com. Best regards, Magdalena Zacharczuk Spartez

The Ikea furniture of plugins. No words in the documentation, just some YouTube videos. The idea is good but needs more functionality ... oh and documentation.

Hi Paul, Thanks for your review. Asset management is a vast domain and so is, we've come to realize, the development of a good asset management app, which would remain simple to use, yet facilitate literally infinite user scenarios. If there's anything specific you would like Ephor to do that it doesn't do at the moment, please feel free to contact us directly (support@spartez.com) and we'll see what can be done. As for documentation - we're a limited team, so, for now, a choice had to be made between quickly developing new features upon user request, delivering high quality instant support or systematic development of thorough documentation. Although we currently lack the latter, it is on its way! In the meantime, we'd be happy to walk you through individually, though I'm sure if you'd take a moment to import the embedded in Ephor sample data set and have a look at how it tackles the issue of IT equipment asset management, a lot of the Ephor know-how would become fairly self explanatory. Best regards, Magdalena Zacharczuk, Spartez

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server add-on pricing work?

Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing tier?

For JIRA Server 7.0 or later, the add-on tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you're running JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 50-user tier for add-ons.

For versions of JIRA Server prior to 7.0, the add-on tier should match the licensed user tier for JIRA. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your JIRA license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Note: While this add-on has features specific to JIRA Service Desk, the add-on is technically available across the whole JIRA instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.

    Version 1.3.2 JIRA Server 6.0 - 7.2.6 Released 2016-03-23

New pricing, new looks, import and REST API improvements and bugs fixed.

Ephor Asset Manager for JIRA version 1.3.2 comes with a new icon, new color scheme and updated asset screens in demo data.

Improved import from CSV file comes with better support of Excel 2013 files and with a nice new progress indicator.

We also decided to make it easier to evaluate Ephor for longer and purchase it. Based on the feedback we have received from evaluators and customers we decided to change the pricing structure of the product, so that it is representing the needs of companies of different sizes better. And the lowest tier is not limited with data size any more. Give it a try!

Last but not least we have also updated REST API and removed several bugs in the add-on.

We are always happy to hear opinions and comments from our customers. Do you have one? Leave a review on Atlassian Marketplace!
