    Risk register

    Risk treatment

    Risk matrix

Risks are listed in order of exposure severity, along with their statuses and treatments.

Select a treatment strategy: Accept, Avoid, Mitigate, or Transfer. Outline your treatment plan. Specify the Residual Risk parameters.

Include a risk matrix gadget on your dashboard. Each matrix can be configured to show Original or Residual risk, and can even display risks from multiple projects.

    More details

This add-on lets you designate selected JIRA projects as risk registers. It carefully configures those projects to support the creation and management of risk issues, which are assigned a custom 'Risk' type.

You can work with risk issues in the same way that you do other types of issue: add comments to them, link them to other issues, watch them, attach images, and so on. In addition, risk issues have custom fields that let you assign a probability and an impact level, which together determine the exposure of the risk. You can then assign a treatment strategy to a risk. A custom workflow guides you through this process of analyzing and treating risks, and keeps track of where each risk is in that process.

With your risks defined, you can view them as a list, or as a risk matrix. If you manage several projects, you may appreciate being able to view an aggregate risk matrix, populated by risks across selected projects.

The matrix dimensions can be customized: 4x4, 5x5, 4x6, 5x4, etc.

We are a health care software company and were looking for something to simplify risk management as part of our security program. As we are already heavily invested in Jira we hoped to find something that would help minimize duplication of effort. After trying other options we settled on Risk Register by ProjectBalm and never looked back. I am not a technical person and personally only started using Jira a few months ago and still this add-on was so user friendly and customization that I had little trouble setting it up to work the way we wanted it to. Whats more, the few things I thought of to add, it turns out were already there, such as definitions and help notes included with the custom fields. Finally I have been greatly impressed with the prompt response to the few questions I did end up having. This is a must buy for your risk management program.

The latest release is excellent and provides a well-integrated and user-friendly risk management add-on for your projects. It's easy to customize the matrix for your own needs, and simple to roll out to existing projects or to create new standalone Risk Register projects. Great support and frequent updates provided too. Highly recommended.

The Risk Register add-on works for both project risk management as well as enterprise risk management. The support from the author is great and this add-on is also under constant development.

Good straight forward add-on, which is easily customizable if needed. Would like to find out if it is possible to visualize the exposure / risk information field in a filter or outside of the issue view itself.

Hi Michael. Thanks for your review, and for your question.

With the release of version 3.0.0 of the Risk Register add-on Exposure is now a custom field, which you can use as a search term in issue filters, and appears as a sortable column in search results.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server add-on pricing work?

Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing tier?

For JIRA Server 7.0 or later, the add-on tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you're running JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 50-user tier for add-ons.

For versions of JIRA Server prior to 7.0, the add-on tier should match the licensed user tier for JIRA. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your JIRA license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Note: While this add-on has features specific to JIRA Service Desk, the add-on is technically available across the whole JIRA instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.

(JIRA 7.x) Validate screens with multiple tabs

FIXED: If an administrator moved one of the custom fields created by the add-on to a different tab, the risk registers were marked as 'Broken'. Now that this bug has been fixed, administrators are free to arrange their screen tabs to include risk-related custom fields, and their risk registers will remain 'Intact'.

    1. Log into your JIRA instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Atlassian Marketplace. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate Risk Register via search. The appropriate add-on version appears in the search results.
    5. Click Try free to begin a new trial or Buy now to purchase a license for Risk Register. You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian. Risk Register begins to download.
    6. Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
    7. Click Apply license. If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your JIRA instance.

To find older Risk Register versions compatible with your instance, you can look through our version history page.
