    Use the branching model of your repository for organising branches by their objective. Keep your codebase clean -- do not allow creating branches out of the branching model scope

    The add-on blocks creating out-of-scope branches via UI and REST. A pop-up notification is rendered, listing the allowed locations.

    The add-on also blocks git pushes that create out-of-scope branches. An error is send to the user, listing the allowed branch prefixes.

    This plugin saves our lives everyday! Branch names become mess when you have more than 3 developers. So restricting branch model is a logical solution. It's a shame this is not part of Bitbucket itself.

    Fix permission denied when creating branches via UI/REST


    1. Log into your Bitbucket instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate Restrict Development to Branch Model via search. Results include add-on versions compatible with your Bitbucket instance.
    5. Click Install to download and install your add-on.
    6. You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
