This plugin turns JIRA into a SAML 2.0 Service Provider supporting HTTP-POST or HTTP-Redirect Binding. Multiple SAML Identity Providers can be configured to authenticate the different group of users with different IDPs.

Users can be created on-the-fly during login with attributes from the IDP. Role & Attribute Mapping features map JIRA user's role/profile attributes to the role/attributes provided by your IDP.

The plugin can be configured to either force Single-Sign-On through your IdP or to allow the Users to choose from SAML SSO & Username/Password.

Used the free version to integrate Jira with our Google Apps as IdP. Works great, easy to setup, good documentation and helpful email support even for the free version.

This SAML add-on has helpful documentation. If the server logs or the troubleshooting tool doesn't get you on the right track, email support is also available. If you need to support multiple IdPs or complex attribute mappings or need someone to help guide you through the setup process, then upgrade to the Premium Feature version for a flat price rather than based on the number of users. Very nice and polished product.
