I have a love/hate relationship with this plugin. It is very powerful with a ton of configuration options. For very simple cases it is easy to set up, but as you dig into its more advanced features it can get very complicated. Unfortunately, the documentation is very poor. It is written in a combination of "How Do I" and various answered questions, which means is is very hard to actually understand what each feature and configuration setting does and how it behaves in various cases. I would greatly prefer a more linear documentation setup that lists each configuration option and what is does. (or at least links to pages that explain it further in context.) Support is generally helpful in assisting and responsive to questions, bugs and new feature requests.

Its a good plugin for people wishing to use the mail handler facility with additional capabilities. As the plugin offers vast range of features, its configuration is little challenging. As we may want to test few features and not everything that the plugin offers, I would love if the documentation is more of feature based instead of the entire documentation for everything. This will help to move gradually and understand the subtleties in a better way, as going back and forth sometimes creates fatigue. Positive side is, an excellent support team sits to help with questions. Great team!

Very powerful functionality. If you manage multiple mailboxes, you really need JEMH just to scale out. With JEMH, you can poll a single mailbox for ALL e-mail addresses you have. You can package up together a powerful customer service package using JEMH + Time to SLA plugin. The configuration options are complex but you can get by ignoring 80% of it.

Very expensive. A plugin shouldn't cost 50% of the software it extends. Jira core: 12k vs 6k for this plugin if it wasn't for the price, we would have jumped right in.

Given the numbers quoted for JEMH, you must be looking at 500 user tier, so yes, Core would be $12K and JEMH (as well as other similar scale addons) will be more costly if viewed by addon/product ratios. At the same time though, Software for 500 users is currently $18K, making JEMH 30% which is the target we have in mind. JSD is a tricky case as JEMH maps agents to user tiers to get some semblance of fair product % pricing ratios, 100 JSD Agents costing $20K needs the 500 user tier licenses, again 30%. We're happy with the pricing for JSD and Software, Core is the odd one out at this point. Costs could be reduced by running up a second smaller user tier JIRA instance.

The problem that JEMH solved, out of the box with no complex configuration, was the inability for both JIRA and JIRA Service Desk to route response emails from the ticket holders. Once JIRA Service Desk was deployed in our environment, only one incoming email could be routed and replies to legacy JIRA tickets all would up creating Service Desk tickets. JEMH saved the day and allowed Service Desk to replies to be inserted in to Service Desk Tickets and legacy JIRA Project emails to be entered as comments into their proper project tickets. I'm sure we can make it jump through more hoops, but it really saved our entire installation from manual workflows!!

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does cloud add-on pricing work?

Cloud pricing is subscription based. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, your pricing tier for host products and add-ons is automatically adjusted (as necessary) based on the number of users in your instance.

If you've opted for annual billing for your host product, add-ons are also billed annually. Annual subscriptions for this add-on include a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing tier?

The cloud add-on tier is set automatically based on the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you have JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, your add-on tier is 50 users.

Note: While this add-on has features specific to JIRA Service Desk, the add-on is technically available across the whole JIRA instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud add-ons, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud add-ons are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the add-on.
