The add-on makes a good first impression but you quickly hit its limitations. * The details pane does not offer an option to assign an issue if it is currently not assigned to any user. * No sort option for the row and column headers. There is a manual sorting (move up/down) but sometimes it would be nice to just change that directly. * No sort option for within the column (for example the rank field). * The manual sort (move up/down) does not seem to work with the "Unassigned" value vs existing users. * There also seems to be a visual glitch when priorities are disabled (in the field configuration) for the shown issue type. * The details pane allows you to directly change the issue type which to me is more of a liability than a positive aspect. People do stupid things when they have the chance to. It even lists all issue types even those disabled for the current project. * There is no easy way of getting a board for the active sprint besides creating a filter and board for every sprint separately. * There is a minor spelling error for the assignee field which is displayed as 'Asignee'. Overall the impression is good. It seems to integrate nicely with Agile. The main flaw for me is really the inability to assign users in the details pane when no user has been assigned before. This really reduces the usability a lot. And please let me disable changing the issue type in the details pane and fix the displayed options.

    Hi Daniel,

Thank you for the thorough review! We are working on a way to allow you to directly assign an issue to a user, and will continue to improve that functionality. The visual glitch you mentioned when priorities are disabled, as well as the typo will be addressed in our next release, and we have added the remaining improvements to our roadmap. We will be including all of these in our upcoming versions later this year. Please let us know if you have any further feedback or ideas.

    Regards,

    Gorka

The tool is wonderful, however after I install it, there was a bug where I can't browser through my projects anymore. It got stuck on the same project and the wizard screen where I should be able to choose a project won't come up anymore.

Hi Rodrigo, Sorry for the trouble getting to look another project. We are looking at better ways to switch between projects. On the meantime, try selecting your project (project dropdown) then select the Canvas Tab (see http://cl.ly/image/1h242C1a1U0s) If that doesn't work, send us an email to support@comalatech.com and we'll look into it.

I've looked at many 3rd party add-ons Trials that tickled my interest initially, but after installing and working with them for a week or two, I usually found out they really didn't help me in my daily workflow. So, they get removed and back to my normal workflow I go . The Comala Canvas is different, this one I'm keeping. Yes, it is nice to see my issues laid out very well against any two axis I choose, and visually it is very appealing. But that is not beauty of this thing. The real benefit is how the drag-and-drop works so well in the context of how I already work. I'm not really doing anything significantly different, but rather it is so much easier now. And so much more clearer to see where my current project stands. I am able to transition Issues through my workflow so much faster now. I really like my dashboards I have setup, and they are still very necessary. But I am finding myself going to Canvas more and more, so much often than I thought I would. The one thing I would really like to see improved is more control of the order of the field elements used in the two axis. Currently you are stuck with the Natural order of the field as it stored in JIRA. Tech Support has already contacted me and said they were looking at ways to control the order, but that would be something in the future. Outside of that, this ad-on is a real Gem.

This plug-in is pretty limited. Depends on issue filters to find the elements of columns/rows meaning you can't interact with sprints or epics that don't already have issues in them. There's no way to view details on an issue without opening it in a new window. Not what I hoped for.

Hi Michael, Sorry to hear you didn't find this add-on useful. JIRA Cloud Add-ons rely on JIRA public REST API, and because JIRA Agile's is not considered a public API yet, we are limited on what we can do Sprints and Epics. We are talking to Atlassian to get them to make it available hopefully soon. With regards to view issue details, we are about to add more information in hovering, such as components, labels, sprints, and current status, but if you have something in mind, feel free to contact us at support@comalatech.com

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does cloud add-on pricing work?

Cloud products and add-ons are hosted by Atlassian. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

Your subscription automatically renews every month. Annual pricing is also available. Your pricing tier for host products and add-ons is automatically upgraded (as necessary) when you add users to your instance.

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing tier?

The cloud add-on tier is set automatically based on the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you have JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, your add-on tier is 50 users.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud add-ons, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud add-ons are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the add-on.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server add-on pricing work?

Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing tier?

For JIRA Server 7.0 or later, the add-on tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed JIRA applications on your instance. For example, if you're running JIRA Software (50 users) and JIRA Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 50-user tier for add-ons.

For versions of JIRA Server prior to 7.0, the add-on tier should match the licensed user tier for JIRA. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your JIRA license, the two licenses should match exactly.

For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.
