Not clear why this plugin more than doubles the cost of my Cloud membership. Paid plugins should very clearly state that they are not free from the add-on screen, like Gliffy.

    Vendor response

Hi Dan, Sorry you felt mislead. It's definitely not our intention to hide that our plugin is a paid plugin! Gliffy and few other plugins come pre-installed and have a more clear "subscribe" link. We don't have access in the Atlassian add-on screen to show the pricing this way, because we aren't able to yet sell our plugin in Marketplace. We are working with Atlassian to be able to sell our plugin in Marketplace for Cloud, which will make the pricing and purchasing information much more clear. We don't have a timeline for that, however we hope it will be available soon. Until then, perhaps this FAQ on using our plugin with Cloud might be helpful: http://support.balsamiq.com/customer/portal/articles/223421 Some Atlassian Cloud users also prefer to use our web application myBalsamiq: http://support.balsamiq.com/customer/portal/articles/1878451

I hope this helps in some small way. -Natalie

This plug in has conflicts and cannot be installed if you have multiple installations of Confluence using the same AD. It hard coded to "Balsamiq User" group and we cannot make a distinction on which license is in use for which group of users. They are forcing us to NOT renew our license because we can't installed it on our server. My support team had been in conversation with the company, but they refused to rectify the situation. Good product, lousy customer service. Even our users like it, we need to look elsewhere

Hi Travis, I'm so very sorry our customer service disappointed your team. Though there are cases were we aren't able to solve the problem, we do pride ourselves on providing excellent customer support and try to offer work arounds, product exchanges, and other options whenever possible. I'm glad we were able to figure out a solution for your team's unique Confluence configuration via email. But please don't hesitate to write us again if you have any other issues. -Natalie

I have used Balsamiq for a while and liked the product, however they recently updated the product so that it now checks the maintenance license status on Confluence Cloud so I now get EULA warnings on all my mockups. I was never informed that I HAD TO purchase maintenance in order to keep using the product. When you purchase a product you expect to be able to use that product as long as you want. Worse, when I went to see about updating my license they want me to purchase 2 years of maintenance at once because the previous one expired almost a year ago. So I have to basically purchase the product again in order to use it properly. This is an insane amount of money for something I use a couple of times a year. Google charges me $50 for a year of service for a product that I use everyday. Balsamiq wants $150 minimum (3 users) for a product that I use several times per year. Won't be going back.

Hi Christian, as we discussed in email I'm so sorry you are disappointed in us. We certainly didn't intend to mislead you on what you were purchasing. Other Atlassian Cloud plugins have an ongoing month cost, rather than annual maintenance, and we know with that, along with other factors, it can be confusing. We're working at making purchasing clearer. In the meantime for other users with maintenance questions, here are details on how maintenance for our products currently works: http://support.balsamiq.com/customer/portal/articles/1485219#after. We're so glad you reached out to us by email. We're here to help and find solutions when we can at sales@balsamiq.com. I hope the what we were able to do works for your team. -Natalie

    I use basalmiq a lot, and without the project and archive capabilities inside the plugin, it makes it hard to make the tool useful for a whole project. We are going to use Balsamiq externally. Unfortunately, the way Balsamiq is deployed you can't link out to a mockup. :{

Hi Edward! Are you using myBalsamiq our web application? http://balsamiq.com/products/mockups/mybalsamiq We don't have a specific integration between Confluence or JIRA and myBalsamiq, however you can add links in Confluence pages or JIRA issues to your myBalsamiq mockups. Here are details about inserting images of your mockups into Confluence or JIRA from myBalsamiq: http://support.balsamiq.com/customer/portal/articles/1878451 Perhaps this will help? If not, feel free to write us directly sales@balsamiq.com -Natalie

we paid for balsamiq license and now we are getting a EULA error message and asking us to upgrade our license. Why would we want to upgrade our license if our current license satisfies our need. We have an unlimited license for confluence.

    Vendor response

Hi Kranti! I think we've sorted this out via email, but do let us know us know if you still have questions. We are here to help. There was a bug that accidentally gave you free maintenance for about 3 to 4 years. Yay! But when we fixed the bug, it definitely looked surprising. So sorry about that ugly EULA warning suddenly appearing! The good news, there is definitely no reason for you to pay for the free bonus maintenance time. Please let us know by email sales@balsamiq.com if you still have concerns or confusion about your license and your options. -Natalie

    Paid-via-vendor pricing FAQ

    What does 'paid-via-vendor' mean?

Paid-via-vendor add-ons are licensed and purchased directly through the vendor who makes this add-on.

Payment for paid-via-vendor add-ons is not handled by Atlassian.

Will paid-via-vendor transactions be on my Atlassian invoice?

Paid-via-vendor transactions are not managed by Atlassian. This means transactions for paid-via-vendor add-ons will not be on your Atlassian invoice.

    Paid-via-Atlassian pricing FAQ

How does server add-on pricing work?

Server products and add-ons are hosted on your servers. Licenses are perpetual and the purchase price include 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your host product and add-on licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If add-on pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing tier?

The add-on tier should match the licensed user tier of the Atlassian host application. For example, if you have a Confluence Server license for 25 users, you should purchase the 25-user tier for add-ons. Even if fewer users want to use the add-on than your host application license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses?

For server add-ons, purchase and renewal is half-price if you have an academic license for your Atlassian host application. Server add-ons are always free for community and open-source licenses. Cloud add-ons do not have discounted or free licenses.

For more details about qualifying for special licenses, see here.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server add-ons, you can extend your add-on trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the add-on listing in UPM from your Atlassian host application, and you're all set.

How can I buy add-ons for my legacy JIRA Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy JIRA Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy add-on pricing is no longer available. You have two options for add-on purchasing:

    • Purchase the add-on at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your JIRA or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the add-on at the same tier.
