    We had the same problem and got a hint from here: https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/UPM-4872. What we did, we inserted the following enviroment variables for JAVA_OPTS in setenv.sh: -Dhttps.proxyHost=squid-1.xxx.de -Dhttps.proxyPort=8080 We only had variables for simple HTTP-Proxy before and added the entry above for the HTTPS-Proxy. Now it works (for us).

    After updating UPM to watch it fail AGAIN, I remembered Tim Pettersens (Atlassian) talk about "Quality without QA" at Eclipse Con Europe 2014 https://www.eclipsecon.org/europe2014/session/quality-without-qa. Maybe one orr two more QA guys would help, who are able to test more than the standard scenario with your UPM.

    Installation

    1. Log into your Atlassian application instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate Atlassian Universal Plugin Manager via search. Results include add-on versions compatible with your Atlassian application instance.
    5. Click Install to download and install your add-on.
    6. You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
