Automatically selects the repository of the JIRA project in Bitbucket Server's create branch dialog

Automatically selects the repository of the JIRA project in Bitbucket Server's create branch dialog

Create a branch from an issue in JIRA

By default the last recently used repo is selected

This add-on selects the repo of the JIRA project

The basic workflow this add-on contributes to is when you start creating a branch from JIRA. This action forwards you to Bitbucket / Stash's "Create branch" dialog.

Bitbucket / Stash selects the last recently used repository in the "Create branch" dialog. This can lead to the situation where a branch is created in the wrong repository by mistake.

This add-on selects the repository that belongs to the JIRA project in the "Create branch" dialog automatically. It knows which JIRA project a repository belongs to by scanning the commit messages for JIRA issue keys.

    More details

This add-on requires that there is at least one commit in a repository with a commit message containing a JIRA issue key for the JIRA project the repository should belong to (otherwise, the add-on falls back to the default behavior of Bitbucket Server / Stash by using the last recently used repository).

It selects the repository in the create branch dialog when coming from JIRA's development panel which has the most commits tagged with JIRA issue keys for that JIRA project.

The add-on's source code is publicly available on Github (Apache 2 license).

Brilliant addon! Is it also possible to provide settings for Jira issue types to be correctly mapped to Stash branch types? For example Jira issues types 'Tasks', 'Features' and 'Sub-Tasks' are all currently mapped to Stash's 'Bug' branch type, instead of the more sensible 'Feature' branch type.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! There is already a feature request for Stash that asks for a way to map JIRA issue types to Stash's branching model settings (see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/STASH-4139). We definitely see a value in such a functionality, but cannot say for sure if we will implement this in the add-on. It really depends on how fast this will be shipped with Stash itself. Would you mind to create a feature request in our bug tracker (https://mibexsoftware.atlassian.net/browse/REPOSELECT) so that this does not get forgotten?

Great plugin, saves branches created in the wrong repository. However... behaviour when using forked repositories is not optimal. In my use case it keeps selecting the forked repositories ;-( Update 21/07/2015 : problem fixed in 1.0.5. Four stars!

Thanks for your feedback. We've just released a new version which ignores forks.
