    Depending on your browser settings, the External Link add-on changes external links and attachment links to open either in a new window or in a new browser tab. This allows the user to keep their current view. This function can save time and prevent frustration.

    Add-on works, although it is not a macro. That part's unclear. Considering Atlassian refuses to upgrade the link macro, this is a fine alternative. Mike

    bitvoodoo makes every plugin that Atlassian should have bundled with the core to begin with. I continue to be impressed with each additional plugin by bitvoodoo that I find. I love their PanelBox macro, as well as their NaviTabs macro.

    Installation

    1. Log into your Confluence instance as an admin.
    2. Click the admin dropdown and choose Add-ons. The Manage add-ons screen loads.
    3. Click Find new add-ons from the left-hand side of the page.
    4. Locate External Link Add-on via search. Results include add-on versions compatible with your Confluence instance.
    5. Click Install to download and install your add-on.
    6. You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
