Description
During many implementations of Jira we did as the Atlassian partner for our customers we looked for any plugin which can add auditing capabilities to the base installation of Jira. Our motivation was simple - chosen important user and especially administrator activities in Jira should by recorded to be traceable over a period of time. There should be an easy way to manage the audit log, e.g. delete recorded events, stop and start recording, browse events etc.
Because no such plugin is currently available, we have developed a new one so whichever other company can benefit from Jira while maintaining all the security requirements which are very common in larger companies.
List of features:
- Intercepts and records important administrator and user activities in Jira.
- The logging can be turned on or off.
- Provides administration screen for browsing, filtering and manipulating audit log data. Only selected administrators have the audit log browser available.
- Among recorded types of events there are:
- User was successfully authenticated
- User failed to authenticate
- A new user was created
- User’s details were edited
- User was added to groups(s)
- User was removed from group(s)
- User was added to project role(s)
- User was removed from project role(s)
- Audit log data were deleted
- and others.

- For each recorded event there is a common set of additional parameters:
- Unique ID of the event
- Event type
- Initiating user
- Date and time of event
- Initiating user’s client’s IP address
- Server name
