Description
Wondering why your field isn't showing up on the View Issue, Edit Issue or Create Issue screens?
Wondering why a user can or can't see a certain issue?
Wondering why a user did or didn't get a certain notification?
The Admin Helper for Jira answers these questions!
Field Helper
The Admin Helper for Jira shows Jira Administrators why a field isn't appearing on a screen and gives you explicit instructions on how to make it appear.
The Admin Helper for Jira works with Jira system fields and custom field types, and detects all the reasons why your field is not appearing on a specific screen:
- Is the field on the screen you're viewing?
- Is the field hidden in the field configuration?
- Does the field have the correct issue/project context?
- Does the field have a value?
For special system fields, the Jira Admin Helper can pinpoint field specific problems, like:
- Issue Links are not showing up because Issue Linking is turned off, or there are no links for this issue.
- Specific permissions (such as the assignee permission or resolve issue permission) which affect whether a user can edit a field.
- Create Issue dialog - in Configure Fields pop up
- Edit issue dialog - in Configure Fields pop up
- View Issue page - in More Actions menu
- Issue Navigator page - in cog menu
Permission Helper
Show Jira Administrators why a user can or can't see a certain issue. Permission Helper looks at each condition which could determine whether the user has permission or not, and offers advice on how to change the settings.
Admin Helper for Jira can be used to address specific problems, such as:
- Determining why anonymous users have access to projects or issues
- Understanding the impact of Issue Security Schemes
The Permission Helper link can be found on:
- View Issue page - in More Actions menu
- Issue Navigator page - in cog menu
- Administration - Permission Helper page (use keyboard shortcut 'gg')
Notification Helper
This add-on shows Jira Administrators why a user does or doesn't get a certain notification, such as when an issue is commented on. Just like the Permission Helper, NotificationHelper looks at each condition which may determine whether the user has permission or not, and offers advice on how to change the settings.
The Notification Helper link can be found on:
- View Issue page - in More Actions menu
- Issue Navigator page - in cog menu
- Administration - Notification Helper page (use keyboard shortcut 'gg')
This add-on is visible only to Jira Administrators.
This add-on is a must-have for all Jira Administrators. And, it's free!
