Key highlights of the appNot another approval engine — reminders, native approval-email resend and escalation for stuck JSM approvals

Give approvers the real Jira email

Approval Nudge uses Jira's documented remove-and-re-add method to resend its native email to people still waiting. Every step is verified. If recovery cannot be confirmed, it stops and tells the admin.

Decide what each project scans

Add one JQL condition per project and every scan uses it. The filter can only leave work out, never add more. The settings page and the Overview both show the filter currently in use.

Keep work moving when someone is away

For Approvers-field steps, a project-wide fallback can join after your threshold or when an account is deactivated. Everyone must still be pending; the original approver stays and can respond.

THE PROBLEM
JSM sends one approval email and no follow-up. Requests can wait until an admin chases them.

CHECKED HOURLY

  • Choose the first and repeat wait in hours or days
  • Find individual and group-backed approvals, then remind only those still waiting
  • Resend Jira's native email for Approvers-field steps
  • Send a Jira-hosted reminder with a request link to pending group members (Advanced)
  • Escalate after your chosen delay and record it on the request

SAFE BY DESIGN
Existing schedules keep their timing. Scans rotate through large backlogs and stay within Atlassian's queue limits. Once anyone answers, email resend and group reminders stop for that approval. Approval Nudge never decides for an approver or changes group membership. Zero egress; Runs on Atlassian.

ADVANCED EDITION
Plan person-specific absences and a project-wide fallback for Approvers-field steps. Export the ledger, narrow scans with JQL, and give selected requests a different schedule.

Version information

Version 3.18.0for Jira Cloud

Release date
Sep 3rd 2026
Summary
Lighter hourly scans: fewer storage reads on large or unreadable backlogs.
Details

3.18 makes the hourly scan cheaper on sites with large backlogs. When Jira Service Management cannot describe a request's approvals (for example, a request with no request type), the scan now notices this before reading that request's stored history and skips it. Requests whose approval is still open are re-checked for an outcome every six hours instead of every hour. The approvals ledger no longer re-records a completed reminder on every visit: an entry is replayed only inside a three-hour recovery window after it was sent. Housekeeping that drains queued ledger rows now runs only when there is something to drain, or during the hourly sweep.

Nothing changes in when reminders send, who receives them, or what the ledger records. Existing settings, schedules and history are untouched.
