Key highlights of the appSend templated issue notifications to the people who need them, delivered by Jira's own infrastructure

Your wording, not Jira's template
Jira Cloud's notification emails can't be customised. Write your own subject and body for issue created, status changed and comment added, per project, and send it to the people who need it.
Templates that fill themselves in
Subjects and bodies interpolate issue fields: key, summary, assignee, status, and more. One template serves every issue in the project without per-issue editing.
Delivered by Jira, zero egress
Built on Forge. Delivery uses Jira's own notification service: no external email server, no data leaving Atlassian. Eligible for the Runs on Atlassian badge, applied automatically.

More details
Jira Cloud's own notification emails can't be rewritten (Atlassian's docs say so). Mail Templates sends the email you write, delivered by Jira itself.
Templates per project, per event. Issue created, status changed and comment added, each with its own subject, body and recipients: reporter, assignee, watchers, voters, named people or Jira groups.
Variables with a live preview. Nineteen issue fields interpolate into subject and body, previewed by the code that sends the real mail.
No rules to build, no automation usage. Automation's Send email writes custom mail too, a rule at a time, and every run spends automation steps.
Accountable: a per-project log records every event, including the ones that did not send and why. Hourly caps bound a bulk edit. Restricted comments and internal notes are never mailed.
Good to know: this adds mail and can't stop Jira's own; turn the event off in the notification scheme to avoid a second. No attachments, custom sender or unsubscribe management.

Discard changes put a rule back as it was saved, but the Specific people box kept showing the people you had just discarded until the page was reloaded. It now clears with everything else, so what you see is what the rule will send to.
The list of variables no longer repeats the example for {{issue.key}}.
No new permissions or scopes.
