Tempo is Perpetually Unfinished 1. You can find some way to keep time with this extension, but you will not like it. Something is always off. This application has been around for years, but it is such a mess, with key features still missing. There is clearly no strong UX guidance behind this application. 2. Tracking billable vs non-billable time is critical, but this application does it in such a round-about way. 3. After all these years, there is no way to have time cards approved on a project basis. Most companies (except really small ones) will have shared resources across different projects. Each project needs to be approved by a different manager. This is key to using time cards. 4. Reporting has just been updated today, but is still lacking. There needs to be access to quick reports, with buttons and input fields. Still, this is the part that probably works best in this entire application. 5. UI is odd. Guessing this is partly a JIRA framework issue, but there's got to be a way to improve it. I wish we could get off this application, but as bad as Tempo is, it's the best option for Jira cloud. Jira ties us to half-hearted applications in the market place.

Overall a decent product but the ratio between uptime and downtime has been shameful as of late. Quite annoying as we put our trust in Temo when it comes to logging hours and sending out bills. We are literally losing money because of these reliability issues.

Timesheets filled our gap between logging time, analyzing and customer invoicing Tempo in the first place extended our usage of time tracking and leveraged our possibilities to invoicing our customers. With the worklogs and price tables we made the first steps and had calculations for our projects based on time & material. Different roles for the users made it easy to use price rates for experience levels. Juniors, intermediates, seniors, project-leads could each be charged for with an own price rate and we had perfect WebGui and Excel aggregations for further usage. With the reporting capabilities, Report Generator or Excel Exports we are able to have more detailed views on our products and the time we put into maintenance and support. You can discover all products which have huge workloads on support and compare to your recurrings. If you work with Accounts in Tempo, then it’s really easy to get objective reasons to end or prolong the lifetime of your product(s). On working level it’s a great feature to have the possibility for all your team members to see, if and when other colleagues will be out of office. We simply started by creating an internal issue called „Out of Office“ and everybody who applied for holidays had also to create a planning entry on this issue for his period of absence. This made it really great and we were able to throw away our calendar-whiteboards. There are always things to do better, for example the Tempo App which is not as intuitive as I would prefer and has some restrictions in having to fill out a description for each worklog while you don’t have to in the webgui. Overall this tool saves as time and helps us to keep the overview over budgets, products. Simply said, everything that has to do with manpower can be tracked and reviewed very good with Tempo Timesheets and -Planner.

We used TEMPO Timesheets for a hundred users and to make it easier to use we created JIRA filters used a lot in the old 'Timesheets' view (replaced by 'My Work' in the new version). Unfortunately in the new version of Tempo, JIRA filters can no longer be used - even if we configure 'Configure issue picker' to use JIRA filters, this is useless because in the My Work view, we can not filter more than 50 records . Very disappointed and very sad for the users.

    Tempo for JIRA

    Hello Ambrozie,

Thank you for taking the time to submit at review.

It is unfortunate that the newest versions of Tempo Timesheets it not to your liking.

The primary goal of the Show issues feature is to help users log time - i.e. find the issues log time against. So the objective was to provide a way for users to see the issues most relevant to them. When the list of issues returned grows very large, this benefit of the feature decreases - the bigger the list, the less likely all the issues are relevant to a particular user.

One of the best ways to further develop our Products is by receiving detailed feedback and use cases from our customers.

    Therefore I would very much like it if you would contact our Support team and either mention my name or Hildur Nanna's, one of our customer experience specialists, in the missive. In it it would be great if you would detail your use case and answer questions such as the following;

    • - why do you need such large lists?
    • -how many records would the view need to support?

    Best regards,

    Hlynur Johnsen

Tempo Timesheets is a seamlessly integrated solution for Jira that helped us in development management as well as each individual to analyze their time logging data, get work-logs at a glance and understand how yesterdays weather influences the forecast for future challenges. With its comprehensive reports, the great ways to group, visualize and analyze data, it is the out-of-the box solution for Jira time tracking.

Hi guys, Sorry, but the new version 9.0 just forced me to write a negative review, removing features like JQL support in reports, showing plans in grid mode, account approval, etc. together with changing the UI to be more fancy but less usable is a huge MINUS... version 8.0 was way better in many ways! Regards, Janos

    Tempo for JIRA

    Hi Janos,

I am very sorry to hear that your experience with version 9.0 of Tempo Timesheets has been negative.

I do know that a representative from Tempo has reached out to you for more information regarding your impressions. Hopefully that will have yielded some positive results for you.

I would like to mention that in the subsequent releases we have addressed some of the points you mentioned e.g.

    • JQL is supported in our dedicated Reports section. There you can filter by what ever saved JQL filter you have access to similar to what was possible in the user reports in previous Tempo timesheet versions. What has also been implemented in the My Work timesheet in version 9.4 is a feature allowing you to see the issue lists configured in the My Work Issues side panel in your Timesheet view. This will allow you to use your User Timesheet to track time on issues that are relevant to you. The issue lists will enable you to view issues in your Timesheet even though you have not logged time on them.
    • Also, we are currently assessing the opportunity to build more support for approval workflows with the objective to solve more complicated approval use cases, for example approvals on the project or account level.

We announced the changes that were released in Tempo Timesheets 9 here and have released some great additional features and improvements in the months since. Please take a look here for all announcements for our Server products.

Thank you for taking the time to review Tempo Timesheets.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

If you've opted for annual billing for your Atlassian product, apps are also billed annually at a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
