Infruirating product. DO NOT BUY if you can avoid it. Missing some key reporting, but otherwise good. But I really need to say, the new update for Timesheet entry is horrible (significantly worse than the last version) for copying / pasting time into the Timesheet view... and there's not a good way to submit feedback. Also don't try and create issues which you've got a timesheet log up, the keyboard doesn't focus properly went typing and causes frustration. This has got worse as time has gone on, downgrading this to 1 star. Try manually entering in a time entry in the calendar, and you get input box jumping between one time box and the other. It make the time entry side of this completely un-usable.

The only thing we need is a report of worklogs grouped by customer (for our service desk) to see how much time we spent for support on each customer which seems pretty basic to me. But as the "customer" is a custom field in Jira we cant use it as group criteria (in the cloud version). The workaround is to export all Data to excel but that leads to a list with approx. 50 columns plus it is like 20 clicks more and then it would only be an Excel-Export-Plugin for $3 per user and month.

We are planning to add Group by custom field into Tempo Reports later this year, and hopefully that will bring your workflow down to just 1-2 clicks! I researched many apps for the best time tracking solution for our Jira teams and went with Tempo. I use Tempo Timesheets and Tempo Planner to plan and track time for multiple teams. Their products provide more features and a better time tracking than what is native to Jira and allows for a better - less intrusive, more comprehensive - GUI for users than other solutions I researched. Tempo fit almost exactly what we needed. Planner provides a nice UI for cohesion of multiple teams and Timesheets allows for various ways to log time. Tempo also provides the ability to have multiple users both plan and log their own, separate times on a single Jira issue and then aggregates the planned and logged time for you. The only major thing that seems to be lacking is they still tie their "original estimate" fields and reports to the native Jira original estimate field. So are still stuck having to build processes and reports around using the native Jira Original Estimate field even though you are using Tempo as a replacement to the native time tracking. This won't work for you out-of-the-box if you want to democratize, and then aggregate, original estimates for multiple users on a single Jira issue and then see the total time remaining for unfinished work. Their suggestion is to code our own workaround for this using their API. However, Tempo does work fine for logged time and planned time fine. Tempo provides good out-of-the-box graphs for analytics, however they are not highly customizable for managers and PMO and the Tempo add-ons for Jira dashboards like to crash and a not the most intuitive. They provide good customer service, listening to our needs and following-up. They also provided 1-on-1 virtual walkthroughs and demos as needed.

The time tracking part is excellent and easy to use by our team. Unfortunately, the UI for the accounts and pricing tables is a bit of a disaster. It's very hard to make changes to the simplest bit of data ... be it a pricing table, account information etc. It's also very hard to see the relationships between various pieces of information. We urge the developers to upgrade the administrative UI to make the whole process clear, crisp and understandable.

    Hi Michael,

    Thank you for your review.

We are happy you find the useability of our time tracking easy to use!

Our client feedback is very important to us and It is unfortunate you feel that way about our Accounts and Price Tables. We understand that configuring and managing features within Tempo may not be the easiest.

Improving configurations is high on our priority list and would like to invest more in this area in the upcoming months. We have released some improvements on Cloud to facilitate the setup and management of Tempo and hope to transfer these improvements to our Server platform soon.

We would love to connect and learn more about your experience and gather more feedback. As I do not have any contact information for you, I encourage you to open a support ticket and mention my name, Amanda Bouharevich, to connect with me.

We are happy you like the UI

We have recently introduced our Idea Portal where we encourage our clients to leave feature requests for review and vote for ideas that are already submitted. You can learn more about our idea portal here. Regarding the ability to report on Jira custom fields, there is an existing idea within the portal, https://ideas.tempo.io/ideas/T-I-271, with the status of "Likely to implement".

Lastly, we are currently looking into our internationalization capabilities and the idea of cyrillic characters would be part of this scope. It would be great if you add support of cyrillic characters in the idea portal.

Tempo Timesheets was great until they released the "new look". Now, everything got worse. Besides of UI glitches, a lot of good functionality was dropped (o week sums and summary in time sheet, time sheet forgets the selected time interval every time it's opened, flexible sliding intervals (e.g. show from 20 last days till 3 next days) disappeared. Also the new time sheet consumes way more space. If I try to display a whole month, I need to scroll horizontally now. It's has now terrible UX and I start to hate the "new look" from day one. Edit: Thank you for reply. I have absolutely no understanding that the functionally is removed and will be "re-introduced" one day. If the "new look" is not finished yet, keep the old until it is or, at least, keep the old available until the new is ready. Least you can do is to make the old functionality (where we all have paid for!) available ASAP.

    Hi Michael,

    Thank you for your response.

We take our clients' feedback seriously, and we just released the logged versus required hours on Cloud and will be included in the next Server release.

We created the new look in collaboration with multiple teams across Tempo and clients' feedback. It is unfortunate that we've missed the mark on some of the UI changes and we are quickly trying to resolve these.

I would be happy to connect with you via a call if you would like to discuss this further. Please submit a support ticket and mention my name, Amanda Bouharevich.

We implemented Tempo Timesheets (Cloud) within our organization 6 months ago, and this allowed us to move off of a different, much more expensive solution that wasn't connected to Jira. The interface works well and is fairly user friendly. Our users recently experienced an issue that didn't allow some users into their timesheets within a project. I notified Tempo, and in just about an hour, they had a fix implemented. I was impressed by the speed at which they reacted. Great product.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Management (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Management, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Yes. Academic, community, and open source licenses are available to qualifying organizations. See our Purchasing & Licensing FAQ for more information.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Management (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Management, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
