I can't live with out Timesheets: it is the perfect way for our Project Managers to keep an eye on performance, historical analysis (estimates vs. actuals), velocity and utilisation. Even away from commercial billable projects, it is great for helping us as individuals understand where we spend our work time and if this is actually both tactically and strategically healthy! I have knocked a star off though, because there was a significant change to the iOS version of the App and it required a re-install and there are specific instructions for this. After weeks of frustrations I went to their JSD to complain and found the FAQ on the subject. Would have been better if the team had send a proactive message about that directly to client's e-mails. (But if you say sorry, I'll give the star back! 😉)

    Hi Andy,

We are so sorry. But in our defence we did create an announcement about our app changes that was advertised in our newsletter and additionally we had some in product announcements. But it is regrettable that they did not reach you. We are improving our ways to reach our customers but unfortunately as our products are apps on the Atlassian Marketplace we do not have access to each user email addresses and therefore cannot send them products updates directly.

It is great that you are happy with Timesheets, and it is great to hear how our customers are using our product and what value they bring them. Please continue to let us know how we are doing.

    Best regards,

    Hildur Tempo Product Expert.

The app looks good, as you can even configure users with different time schedules. Anyway, I think there is something I'm missing here, as I can't get any kind of report (it appears empty).

    Hi Carmen,

Thank you for writing a review of Tempo Timesheets for Cloud.

Permissions often are the cause why people do not see the data the are after in the reports.

Here you can see more information on Tempo reports and information on what permissions you might be missing, e.g. such as View team worklogs permission which is a Tempo permission for each team or View all worklogs permission in the project itself.

Our very dedicated support team would also be happy to assist you further.

    Best regards,

Slow although that may be partially Atlassian's fault as we are using JIRA cloud. Overall tool is clunky and doesn't provide a smooth user experience. For example, when logging time from the timesheet view, why doesn't it put the initial cursor in the hours field(which is required)? No it puts it in the description field, which is optional and rarely used. Or when adding a new ticket to log time against, why does the date always default to today? It should default to a day that you are actually viewing. I often fill out a previous time periods timesheet so it's tedious to change every time because it doesn't recognize that especially. The worst is when I forget and now I have to move it across weeks, which is another 10 clicks to do through the slow interface. It seems overall reporting is rudimentary, but I don't have a lot of access to the reports.

    Hi Stephen,

Thank you for taking the time to review Tempo Timesheets for Cloud.

We are always looking to improve the performance of our products. It would be very helpful to know which particular areas of the product are not performing well in your experience. That way it is also easier for us to understand if this is a Tempo problem, which we can then work on improving, or if it can be attributed to Atlassian

Your example of clunkyness in the log time dialog is a good one and to hopefully lift your spirits I can tell you that we will be releasing a simplified and personalizable Log Time dialog optimised for fast time tracking early Q1. That will allow the user to customize their own Log Time dialog and eliminate the need for too many clicks.

As for your second example, I would love to understand the experience better. When logging time in My Work by clicking Log Time on a specific day, the dialog should default to the day clicked. If you however, are in My Work and use the “w” shortcut, or if you log your time from the issue view, then the default date is always the current date.

If you are doing something else, please consider submitting a ticket to our Support team and explain in further detail the process you described here above along with any information you might haver regarding the performance issues you mentioned in the beginning.

If you could mention in the ticket either my name, Hlynur or my colleagues name Hildur, that will ensure the information reaches us right away.

    Best regards,

    Hlynur Johnsen

Fairly robust timesheeting system, with a few minor UI quirks that would be nice to improve upon - as always though anything is only as good as the data you put in :) Would certainly continue using, and feeding back to the team at Tempo re: improvements.

I am a user for Tempo Timesheets many years. These few weeks, I am performing a trial in Jira upgrade to the latest version. But I need to upgrade Tempo Timesheets as well because the old version is not compatible with the latest Jira version (8.5.x). However, I was stuck in uploading apps process. The installation of the new Tempo version lasts for a very long time. I already made a support call to Tempo support but two days gone ... still no response!

Tempo Timesheets is a powerful app that part of our big organization is using. Lot of nice features are included which make timetracking on a JIRA instance easy. I feed 2 thinks could be enhanced: - It's not always handy when only a part of the JIRA users are using Tempo for time tracking (which is often the case on big instances). The best example is the Scheduler (reminder) that can hardly be used in that case. - Reporting could be better, especially the possibility to use Tempo reports in dashboards, which is very poor at the moment. I'm in touch with Tempo people and I know that these 2 things are on their roadmap... Looking forward to it.

    Hi Andres,

Thank you for being in touch and providing feedback. We removed the account approvals feature from version 9.0 in order to make the user interface more coherent and focused on time tracking:

    https://tempo-io.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SERVERNEWS/pages/351568903/2018-11-29+Tempo+Timesheets+for+Server+9.0.0+Release

Since this release, we have heard from several customers that this is a feature that they would like to see restored. We have taken that into consideration and are now working to add it in again. There is currently no timeframe for its release, but we will announce it and include it in the release notes as soon as it is live. You can find the latest information here: https://tempo-io.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SERVERNEWS/overview

Please feel free to be in touch with any further questions.

Till now it has been a great experience, but I find one thing annoying that there are features which are present for Cloud version but not for the Server version and those are really good ones, like Connecting your Google Calendar to the My Work Calendar, This is a really good feature to have, but it is available for cloud one. Is there any plans to include this into the Server one also?

    Hi Vatsal Dhar,

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Cloud features such as the Google Calendar integration are with out a doubt something that we are considering to add to our Server Products.

I currently do not have any date for such work. but feedback such as yours are invaluable to the process. Please do let us know if there are any other features you think you would use if they were added to either Tempo Timesheets or Planner for Server.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
