Really like the macro, but if we want to automate creating them, it needs better template support. It would be great if we can put in variables in the secret, like $password, and so when people create a "password" object, they can pre-fill the secure macro with variables of choosing. Otherwise, it becomes tedious and not worthwhile to input hundreds of them by creating a new macro... or teaching people how to create the macro themselves.

    It's a great feedback -- thank you!

We've created a complete guide on managing passwords in Confluence to easily guide users creating the macro the way you want them to, and easier way for you to view all the stored sensitive information together in one page. Hope it helps!

Hello. Are you looking to allow (future release) editing of the content without having to edit the page directly? Also allowing the macro owner to pass ownership to another user would also be helpful.

We thought editing the page provides useful capabilities for Confluence users such as notifications for watchers, version history, etc. If you have other thoughts, send me an email at azwandi@servicerocket.com - would love to talk! Also, Confluence system admins can recover any macros, in case you need to.

Looks like being able to set the visible timeout has been removed, and the link feature does not open the link in a new window so it takes over your confluence window and you no longer have the password to login to the site. Makes the link feature unusable IMO.

Looks like great adea which I am going to have a look but ... In confluence group "confluence-adminsitators" is hardcoded root and can particularly view any page even it is restricted... This will mean that Admins will be able to navigate to that page, edit it and reveal that information even he is not allowed to see that. How about that?

Hello Areg, by-design of Confluence, the members of confluence-administrators group (or users with Confluence Administrator or System Administrator permission) would be able to login as any user. Are you looking for a way to overcome this? I'd love to hear it - contact me at azwandi@servicerocket.com.

This is a very good plugin but ServiceRocket struggles to keep up to date with Confluence. Chances are, the latest plugin version isn't compatible with the latest version of Confluence. This is now the second time I've had to roll back an upgrade because Security and Encryption wasn't compatible.

Hi Travis, glad that you find this a very good plugin!

On the releases - sorry for the recent hiccups. We've been tightening our process since a couple of weeks ago, which should result in faster compatibility releases.

    - Azwandi, PM

UPDATE: I'm happy to share that for all of the recent Confluence releases (7.5.x and 7.6.x), we have successfully delivered the compatibility release of the app on Day 1!

Your feedback matters to us, Travis. So, thank you.

As an Atlassian Consultant, I need to keep many passwords and other information that is confidential to my clients while making this information accessible to my colleagues in the event that they need to provide support to the client. This plugin is exactly what I need. It allows me to encrypt this data securely while making it available to others on my team who have a legitimate need to know. It keeps an audit log of the accesses, which gives my clients confidence that their private information is being monitored. A must-have plugin for this purpose.

Thank you Derek, for this full-star review. Really glad to hear how the app helps you keep confidential information secure. And thank you for sharing! 👍

We've also documented an example implementation of this app together with Scaffolding and Reporting, extending the functionality to become a password manager. Check out the guide here and the live demo here.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Confluence Cloud apps are priced based on the number of Confluence users on your instance. For example, if you have Confluence Cloud (25 users), you pay the 25-user price for apps.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Yes. Academic, community, and open source licenses are available to qualifying organizations. See our Purchasing & Licensing FAQ for more information.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. The app tier should match the licensed user tier of the Atlassian product. For example, if you have a Confluence license for 500 users, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Atlassian product license, the two licenses should match exactly.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Learn more about Data Center approved apps

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Learn more about Data Center licensing

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
