So disappointing to find that advanced JQL (https://bigbrassband.com/git-integration-for-jira/documentation/jql-searching.html) works only for jira server. That feature I was looking for cloud instance. Any workarounds?

    Hi Alex -

We just launched a new suite of features using Jira Cloud's new Development Information. Once you enable this feature (instructions) you will be able to use JQL searching. For more information see: Development Information

Note - the JQL searching options in Server and Cloud are different (see documentation on JQL searching in Jira Cloud using the Git Integration for Jira app). In Cloud - we offer the ability to search for Jira issues with commits and pull requests (total or open status).

Here are some examples of the JQL you can use once Development Information is enabled:

    development[commits].all > 2

    development[pullrequests].all > 0

    development[pullrequests].open > 0

If you have questions - please reach out to us at support@bigbrassband.com - we're happy to take a closer look with you.

    Cheers,

    Adam

This is a good product. However, I would expect it to provide better integration like Gitlab hook to automate the process even more. Overall I'll recommend it.

    BigBrassBand

Hello Yangming - thank you the review. We do support processing GitLab webhooks to your commits/merge requests get processed very quickly. See the GitLab section of our Webhooks help article. You will want to have these two triggers set. If you have any questions along the way - please contact us at support@bigbrassband.com.

This is the perfect plugin and very easy and simple to help integrate the JIRA server with the Gitlab server.

We had some problems with the plugin, especially against a very large GIT repository. However, the company was very patient with us, and worked through every issue, including some memory leak fixes. Overall, the support was GREAT! They were very responsive, and very patient, as the entire process took over 2 months (my fault not theirs). I'm very impressed with their service and their product.

We have been using this plugin for over 3 months for integration with our local gitlab server by using an evaluation license and just recently moved to a licensed version. Configuration was very straightforward and it works like a charm. We did have to finetune some aspects due to the user used for the integration requires at least developer access in all gitlab projects that use CI/CD as you can start branches and merge requests from Jira that trigger builds. The automated build will fail if the integration user does not have developer access in the gitlab project even if this user has an administrator role in gitlab. This is actually a gitlab issue. But you might pull your hairs if you don't know the cause of the failing builds. Another valuable tip we got from support is to enable "Require personal access tokens" in the integration settings and to add groups of repositories from gitlab instead of all the repositories from a server at once.

We use GitLab (11.1.4) and Jira-Software (7.13). We want to see the Git commits in the Jira tickets. This is what this plugin does. After approx. 15 minutes, the commits are displayed. It's nice that you can not only see the changed files, but also the diff. For code reviews you sometimes do not need to use Eclipse anymore. You can use Jira. It's also cool that you can see the tags and branches. We do not use smart commits. We do not use any other features of this plugin. The first configuration of the repository was a bit difficult (in German: "hakelig"). At some point it worked. I do not remember details. Maybe I did not really see what happened. In future our Jira will be hosted by us on the web. However, our git repository should stay in the LAN. This is going to be exciting as it is to implement. The plugin is a bit expensive.

    Hi Marcus -

Thank you for the review. A couple notes - you can change the reindex interval in the General settings (default is 5 minutes) but you will get even faster indexing if you configure webhooks in GitLab to trigger the reindexing (video).

Great plugin which works with even locally hosted Git repos. Easy to install, always up-to-date. Nice work. Only missing / a few suggestions: - branch view (e.g. as a tree), especially if combined with / linked to when/what Jira issue was mentioned + state changes - features like diff highlighting changes on character level (inline), or side-by-side diff - icons could be a bit more in line with current Jira's look and feel, some are not even retina friendly

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

If you've opted for annual billing for your Atlassian product, apps are also billed annually at a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Learn more about Data Center approved apps

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Learn more about Data Center licensing

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
