I'm a new user to Jira and JEMH and managed to configure a multi channel / multi brand helpdesk for Jira Service desk. After lots of messing around its finally working correctly. Documentation could be better but it got the job done.

I do give props for the complexity and speed of bug-fixes in this plugin, very impressive. The plugin does what one would desire and has a good amount of service and functionality included. They key fallback is the pricing structure. To utilize ~4k emails and 0.5GB of data, the average monthly cost will be around $1000, if not more. Additionally, if you need a data pack, their 1GB data pack (no messages) is $600, resulting in a $600/GB price. For $600/GB for data bandwidth, that is significantly higher than Amazon and any provider I can think of: https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/ Given that you could use GMail for free email messages (unlimited) and you can get an EC2 instance for a low cost every month with TB's of data, paying that does not justify the ROI of this plugin.

Thanks for some kudos to what JEMHC can provide. Sorry you found cloud pricing objectionable, perhaps a hosted Server instance would suit better, you bear all service provision, ongoing maintenance and upgrade costs? The comments made about costs of data may miss the point of why pricing for data volume is there at all. We allocate Plans that always cover 99% of users in a tier with no additional cost and still allow for excessive data usage through PlanUpgrades and DataPacks. Data levels are not merely for 'storage' (and cannot be equated simply to S3 bucket costs) but represent real and actual performance impact to the system; all mail is read, pulled apart, encrypted, stored in the database, written to Jira, or external storage (soon). Its a computational load far in excess of simplistic storage in S3.

You found your instance in a low-user high-volume usage situation, with over 2X the volume of anyone in your tier or the next two IIRC. JEMHC can support your much larger than average data volumes, but it will cost you more. It would be far more cost effective to run your own JIRA instance (even host in AWS yourself) with a 25 user JEMH Server license costing $500. Of course, _you_ will have to manage it, maintain it etc.

Oh, gmail is free because you are the product. We have zero interest in data mining your email content.

I have a love/hate relationship with this plugin. It is very powerful with a ton of configuration options. For very simple cases it is easy to set up, but as you dig into its more advanced features it can get very complicated. Unfortunately, the documentation is very poor. It is written in a combination of "How Do I" and various answered questions, which means is is very hard to actually understand what each feature and configuration setting does and how it behaves in various cases. I would greatly prefer a more linear documentation setup that lists each configuration option and what is does. (or at least links to pages that explain it further in context.) Support is generally helpful in assisting and responsive to questions, bugs and new feature requests.

Perfect addition to the Jira Mail Interface. After several issues during the initial configuration and special use-cases specific to our environment, vendor always responded in a patient and helpful way with different options and script snippets for the actual implementation. Lots of love for the excellent support guys Andy and Reece :)

I used JEMH to set up a complex mail transfer between Jira Service Desk and external ticket systems with their own unique ticket IDs. It was very hard to get started because JEMH tries to accommodate a great amount of use cases and therefore has a very confusing UI and documentation. But with the great support of the vendor it is possible to find the right configuration for your specific use case. The support responds very fast, and has always been very helpful. They even provided a useful sample script to get me started! I also want to praise the Script Field Processor. This feature opens up a lot of new customization options.

Its a good plugin for people wishing to use the mail handler facility with additional capabilities. As the plugin offers vast range of features, its configuration is little challenging. As we may want to test few features and not everything that the plugin offers, I would love if the documentation is more of feature based instead of the entire documentation for everything. This will help to move gradually and understand the subtleties in a better way, as going back and forth sometimes creates fatigue. Positive side is, an excellent support team sits to help with questions. Great team!

Very powerful functionality. If you manage multiple mailboxes, you really need JEMH just to scale out. With JEMH, you can poll a single mailbox for ALL e-mail addresses you have. You can package up together a powerful customer service package using JEMH + Time to SLA plugin. The configuration options are complex but you can get by ignoring 80% of it.

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

If you've opted for annual billing for your Atlassian product, apps are also billed annually at a discount (12 months for the price of 10).

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

    What does 'paid-via-vendor' mean?

Paid-via-vendor apps are licensed and purchased directly through the vendor who makes this app.

Payment for paid-via-vendor apps is not handled by Atlassian.

Will paid-via-vendor transactions be on my Atlassian invoice?

Paid-via-vendor transactions are not managed by Atlassian. This means transactions for paid-via-vendor apps will not be on your Atlassian invoice.

    Pricing FAQ

How does Data Center app pricing work?

Data Center apps are sold as an annual subscription. You are eligible for support and version updates as long as your subscription is active.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my Data Center pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Learn more about Data Center approved apps

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Learn more about Data Center licensing

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for Data Center apps?

For Data Center apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are not available for Data Center apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For Data Center apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.
