Power Scripts - Jira Workflow Automation

We would like to thank the team behind SIL script. It has been a long 6 years+ of a journey. Prior to AI introduction this language was a savior to fundamental post functional logic. Helped us manipulate custom fields and introduce rules of engagement that liberated the Jira work item for dynamic work. We look fwd now in the post AI era and cloud system that this powerful rich language layer continues to abstract and handle functions gracefully. One suggestion perhaps would be to support vibe coding aspects that may simplify writing the SIL, either through a specialized Rovo agent or another means such as a user guide to use it with gpt/claude help skills. Simple step by step guide or builtin functionality to develp the SIL would go a long way to keep this potent tool win the game.

I think this would be great for someone who does a lot of coding. But I am not that person. I did appreciate the support I got from the company though and were I a developer, I would definitely have gone for this product.

I’ve been using Power Scripts in Jira Cloud for about three months, and so far it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it. I use it for things like protecting critical fields from accidental changes, assigning labels based on project roles, clearing selected fields during cloning, automatically creating sub-tasks in the parent with full data copied from all relevant fields, generating monthly blocker reports across projects, and plenty of other small but important tasks. The scripting language (SIL) takes a bit of getting used to, but once you understand the basics, it lets you build logic that actually fits your process — not just what Jira allows by default. I’ve contacted support a few times, and they’ve been great: fast replies, clear follow-up questions, and real help with finding working solutions. They don’t just send you to the docs — they help you think through the problem. If you want more control over Jira workflows and don’t mind getting a bit technical, this tool is absolutely worth it.
