Key highlights of the appRequire a file, restrict file types and size limits, collect uploads on the JSM customer portal, preview and search in JQL

Give every document its own place in Jira
Add a native File field for each document — Signed Contract, ID scan, or compliance record. Each gets its own name, upload rules, and download and delete actions, instead of one shared pile of Jira attachments.
Only the right files ever get uploaded
Choose the allowed file types, the maximum number of files, and the maximum size per project. Every upload is validated against the rules before it's stored, so files that break them never get in.
No issue moves forward without its file
File Field is a native Jira field, so you can make it mandatory in Jira's field configuration. Jira then blocks creating, editing, or transitioning an issue until at least one file is attached.

More details
File Field adds a dedicated attachment custom field to Jira and Jira Service Management. Every document gets its own named field, with its own rules.
- Require an attachment before a work item is created or transitioned
- Require a full set to close - a count of files, and one per category
- Restrict file types, count, and size per project and work item type
- Collect files on the JSM customer portal under the same rules
- Preview PDFs, images, and spreadsheets without downloading
- Search files in JQL by count, type, or name
- Fill fields from Jira Automation rules
Used by service desks for ID scans and invoices, HR and finance for signed contracts, and audit teams for compliance evidence.
Runs on Atlassian — files never leave Atlassian infrastructure.

Version information
Version 5.7.0•for Jira Cloud
- Release date
- Oct 29th 2026
- Summary
- Rename files and see when each was uploaded
- Details
- Agents rename files — in the edit view, from a file's Rename button. The extension stays as it is, so a rename never changes what type of file it is. Turn on Allow renaming files on the new Actions tab.
- Customers rename their own files — on the request's page in the portal, only files they added themselves. Turn on Customers can rename files they added; it needs Allow renaming files.
- The issue history shows the change — from the old name to the new one.
- Upload date on each file — in the list, cards and grid layouts, in Jira's language and time zone; hover for the full date and time.
- File type and size — choose on the Display tab whether files show their type, their size, both, or neither, the same in every layout.
- A new Actions tab — Keep file versions and the portal options moved there from Allowed files, which now holds only file type, number of files and file size.
