Space Graph

More details

This macro can be used to add various UML, ditaa or JCCKit diagrams to a confluence wiki page. Similar to the Confluence wiki markup, the diagram is defined as a simple text using a special syntax defined by the PlantUML Project. You don't need any drawing editor to draw such diagrams!

The macro can be used to generate the following diagram types:

  • Sequence Diagram
  • Use Case Diagram
  • Class Diagram
  • Activity Diagram
  • Component Diagram
  • State Diagram
  • Object Diagram
  • Flowcharts
  • GraphViz Diagram
  • Ditaa Diagram
  • JCCKit Diagram
  • Design graphical Interface with Salt

Please note that you have to install some additional software (GraphViz) so that this plugin can work, please read the documentation!

Unfortunately the underlying library that this plugin uses has some politically motivated "Easter Eggs" included (https://github.com/Banno/sbt-plantuml-plugin/blob/master/src/main/java/net/sourceforge/plantuml/eggs/PSystemMemorial.java#L78) and so on the 13th of November (ie today) any blank/empty UML diagrams instead show up as a "Memorial" to the Paris attack last year. These images look almost exactly like a hack/defacement and are EXTREMELY unprofessional.

The PlantUML for Confluence plugin just uses the underlying plantuml library as-is without any modification.

Sequence diagrams work great, but class diagrams give an error about graphviz installation. Is it not possible to bundle graphviz with the plugin? Or at least create some documentation on how to fix this?

The graphviz package is native and depends on the platform you are running your Confluence server. Therefore graphviz cannot be bundled with the plugin. Please have a look at the installation notes here: https://avono-support.atlassian.net/wiki/display/PUML/Installation

This is an awesome tool for UML diagramming, it makes it so easy that even people who hate writing documentation will do it. No more endless fiddling with diagrams in Visio.

PlantUML is exactly what we were searching for. We use the linkgraph macro to display technical dependencies by analyzing links between the corresponding technical documentations within our Confluence. This works fine. Additionally, the team is supportive and friendly in case of bugs or problems.
