Key highlights of the appRoll up story points, logged time or any numeric field through your issue hierarchy, into fields that work in JQL and automation
Totals live in real Jira fields
The panel splits a total into the issue's own value and everything below it. The same numbers land in read-only fields, so JQL, boards, filters and dashboards treat them like any other Jira field.
Search and filter on them in JQL
Rollup fields behave like built-in ones. Filter with "Rollup: Story Points" >= 3, sort by them, put them on board cards or in a dashboard gadget. No exports, no separate report.
Trigger automation rules on a rollup
Fire a rule when a rollup changes, read its value with a smart value, use it in a condition. Verified on a live instance — the screenshot is a working rule, not a mock-up.

More details
Jira Standard cannot sum values across a hierarchy at all. Premium shows the numbers, but only as a display. TreeTotals puts them in a field — which is the part that makes them useful.
Two fields appear as soon as you install, with nothing to configure:
• Rollup: Story Points — sum from this issue and everything below it
• Rollup: Time Spent (h) — same, for logged time
Need more? Create a field of type "TreeTotals Rollup" over any numeric field — budget, cost, a custom estimate — and pick Sum, Max, Min, Average or Count.
Issues with no children get their own value rather than a blank, so a filter like "Rollup: Story Points" > 8 returns every matching issue, not just parents.
Good to know: the panel's live breakdown covers up to ~1,500 issues. Larger hierarchies are fully supported — TreeTotals keeps their totals current in the background (up to 50,000 issues). Very large projects may take a few minutes to fill in.

Version information
Version 4.4.0•for Jira Cloud
- Release date
- Aug 14th 2026
- Summary
- Automatic rollups that now handle large hierarchies (up to 50,000 issues).
- Details
Totals now stay current on their own. When a child issue changes — its story points, logged time, parent link, or when it is deleted — the affected rollups recalculate automatically. The change is queued immediately and totals usually update within about 35 seconds.
Also in this release:
- Large hierarchies are now supported. A background queue keeps rollups up to date for full trees (up to 50,000 issues), so totals no longer stop at ~1,500.
- On install, rollups fill in automatically for every epic — nothing to edit first.
- A nightly reconciliation pass still runs as a safety net.
The panel's live breakdown still covers up to ~1,500 issues; above that it shows the values maintained in the background instead of recomputing on the spot. Rollup fields stay ordinary read-only Jira fields, working in JQL, on boards, in filters, on dashboards and as automation triggers.
