Great product. We are using the Cloud version, and even if there are still a few things missing, it already delivers a lot. I'm curious to see how the developer of Structure will deliver what I would like to see: editing the structure and modifying links, inserting new issues directly in the structure, etc... Not an easy thing considering Jira's flexibility: we are using custom relationships.

Thank you very much, Marc. The team here truly appreciates the fact that you think it's a great product and we hope we live up to your expectations with our ongoing efforts to improve Structure Cloud. If we don't, please be sure to let us know. -dave

I'm a bit spoiled after using the server version for so many years and think it is truly a great product! I built a whole development process around it. ...but the Cloud version is getting there but not quite ready for what I need it for. I do use the Cloud version and enjoy what does work very much but really miss some of the server version features. My understanding is that the Cloud version roadmap will start incorporating more of the server version features(?)...so I'm very hopeful! I really want/need the ability to rearrange items in the structure by Rank. This ability makes backlog grooming easy and shortens meeting times. With Team boards ordered by rank also it makes prioritizing work for teams extremely easy. I'm giving it a 4 for now in anticipation of a continued feature sync between the Cloud and Server versions.

Thanks, Parrish. Yes. We are working very hard to advance Structure Cloud as quickly as we can. The on prem. versions of Structure are nearly 10-years in the making. Structure Cloud, which we re-architected for the cloud, is just over 1-yr. old.

Things are happening fast. It's a re-write, but it's a re-write based on 10-years of customer insights and Structure on prem. development :)

In particular, you'll not have to wait much longer for "update data in Jira by rearranging generated content" — it's coming soon.

Thanks again for the kind words. -dave

I will start by saying that I have used the Server version of the product for years and thought it was pretty great. However, I am really disappointed in the Cloud version. The Cloud version is missing some pretty key functionality which makes it much less useful. I have no idea how Atlassian has changed Jira for the cloud so maybe it's hard to migrate plugins, if so shame on Atlassian. If nothing has changed, shame on ALM Works, the cloud is the future, update your tools!

Hi, Ben. I'm sorry we disappointed you.

As it happens, the cloud version of Jira is fundamentally different under the covers. So, in order to deliver the best possible product we are re-engineering Structure from the ground up for the cloud. We've done our best to be very open and transparent about that by documenting the major differences between the cloud and the on-prem. versions, and by sharing our product development roadmap. That fact that you weren't aware of these differences tells me we need do a better job. :(

Hopefully, you'll be willing to give Structure Cloud another try one day when we are closer to parity with the on prem. editions. -dave

I've had the chance to use this now at two companies in an effort to better understand where teams are, how things roll up, and areas that we can work towards better predictability and Structure ALM completely does this. Plus, the support you get from the team at Structure is one of a kind! We highly recommend this tool for any teams trying to improve predictability, understand LOE, and see their own waterlines in a clearer manner (what can make it vs what can not).

Great Tool! I've been using for the past two weeks, and it's helped immensely. Especially because we use iteration based waterfall, and also (unfortunately) assign team members to simultaneous work streams. However, the Cloud version is missing some key features: - Ability to toggle on/off word wrapping for columns - Ability to export to an Excel spreadsheet - with groupings intact - A row number visible, like Excel, on the far left to make referencing records in a meeting easier - RowID is the alternative but it's clumsy - Cloud version is not updated as frequently as Server version.

    ALM Works

    Hello Alex,

Thanks for the feedback! We are happy to hear Structure has been helpful :)

It's true. The cloud version of Structure doesn't have all of the capabilities of the server & data center versions of Structure — yet.

We're actively working on adding new capabilities. Word wrapping is already there and export to Excel is on our roadmap.

As for displaying Epic hierarchy: In fact, Extend generators allow you to visualize Epic-Story hierarchy and/or a hierarchy of linked issues, today. Please contact our support team at support@almworks.com or alm.works/support and our team will be happy to assist you in building the hierarchy you need. -dave

Cubic is a big user of JIRA in all their areas of work. This morning I had the privilege working Mario. He helped me with the structure issue I was having with indenting sub tasks. My manager wants to use JIRA to manage projects. It has worked well to this point. Have an EPIC, then to user stories and 16 to 18 subtasks under each user story.

The America Red Cross is a big user of Jira, but we have struggled with both technical team members and users being able to "make sense" of the Jira data. One thing that is a typical problem is link-a-palooza, which leads to a mess. With the assistance of Structure, we can see our work organized in so many useful and meaningful ways. We use a structure to run the dev scrums, to manage user story development, to see how work is connected across releases, etc. It has also allowed us to work in several projects but "glue" the information together in a single view. LOVE IT!!!! You do have to learn to think like the "Automation" :) But i would say the adoption cycle is just a few weeks of use, trial and error, etc. And the support help is terrific! The result? Our team members can look at the Structures and "get Jira"

Although this app is primarily advertised as a project management tool, it is a versatile extension to Jira. We use it to generate requirement specifications, to review our product roadmaps, and for a plethora of other use cases (see: https://midori-global.com/products/better-pdf-exporter-for-jira/data-center/documentation/integrations/structure#structure-export-samples). It is flexible, stable and well-documented. Great work, ALM Works team!

IT deparment of El Corte Inglés has chousen to use the Structure plug-ins to view, track and manage progress in Jira's projects and teams. has positively appreciated that, using user-defined and adaptive question hierarchies, it is presented in a familiar view similar to a Jira problem spreadsheet. Also, structures can contain folders and other useful organizational elements not found in Jira. Miguel Escavias ALM Team Lead of El Corte Inglés

Great tool. We are testing this for a month and would like to use it as our PPM tool. One concern about the progress, based on our testing ,all the columns are still configurable even we only assign view permission to people. Then in that way everyone will see different columns and different progress. Is there any way to lock down the columns and configurations?
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

    ALM Works

Hi Ming Cheng, thanks for your review!

Regarding the columns configuration, users can *adjust* what they are seeing, but they will not be able to overwrite the view shared with other people. You can tell that a view is adjusted by spotting a "*" symbol near the view name. You can also revert to the saved view. By design, there's no way to restrict users from adding more columns or changing column configuration.

Also, you can use Perspectives to get a URL that always opens in a predefined configuration.

Feel free to reach us at support@almworks.com and discuss the available options to solve this challenge.

    Kind regards,Igor

Hi thanks a lot because of this amazing add-on , it really helped me a lot , specially the formula column . but here is a little problem , I create my structure and add "Start Date" and "End Date" column, start and end dates shown for Epics , Story and Tasks , but I cant see start and End date for Version and Project, But I really need it , please help me best regards

    Hi Javad,

Thanks for the kind words! Glad to know Formula column worked for you.

We'll be happy to assist you with any challenges you experience. The Start Date / Finish Date seems to be custom fields, which JIRA does not provide for Projects and Versions. Please write us to support@almworks.com and we'll be happy to discuss ways to approach this.

    Kind regards,Igor

Add-on stopped working and support has been ineffective at obtaining a resolution.

    Hello Ryan,

I am sorry that you had an unsatisfactory experience with our add-on and support. I can see from the support ticket that many people from our team were involved in solving this case. Unfortunately, it wasn't an easy one. But it also seemed that the problem was not necessarily located in Structure, and we were trying to get Atlassian involved in solving it.

JIRA server with multiple add-ons is a system with many moving parts. While we do our best to solve a problem regardless of the configuration, it sometimes involves other parties.

If you're willing to work with us a little more to try to restore Structure's functionality, we'll make another go at it, potentially with Atlassian support.

    Kind regards,

    Igor

    Pricing FAQ

How does cloud app pricing work?

Cloud apps are sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You are eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

When your subscription renews each month, you are automatically billed for apps based on the number of users in your instance.

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my cloud pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. Jira Cloud apps are priced based on the maximum users of the Jira products on your instance. For example, if you have Jira Software (50 users) and Jira Service Desk (10 agents) on the same instance, you pay the 50-user price for apps.Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for licensing across maximum users still apply.

The pricing structure for cloud apps is as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions with up to 10 Atlassian product users are billed at a flat rate price.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 10 users are billed per user, starting at the first user.
    • Monthly subscriptions with more than 100 users are billed per user. The table above provides example pricing at various user levels.

Annual subscriptions may offer a discount depending on the number of users purchased.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for cloud apps?

Academic, community and open source licenses are not available for cloud apps.

Can I extend my free trial?

For cloud apps, you cannot extend your free evaluation period. All cloud apps are immediately subscribed by a user, and we provide a free evaluation period. This is a minimum of 30 days and ends on the second billing cycle after you first subscribe to the app.

    Pricing FAQ

How does server app pricing work?

Server products and apps are hosted on your servers. This app is sold as a perpetual license, and the purchase price includes 12 months of maintenance (support and version updates).

You can renew maintenance after 12 months at 50% of the current purchase price. You can upgrade the tier of your Atlassian product and app licenses at any time. Upgrade prices are calculated based on Atlassian's formula (view example).

If app pricing changes after your initial purchase, there's a 60-day grandfathering period during which you can renew based on the old pricing.

How do I determine my server pricing?

Apps are billed based on the number of users in your Atlassian product. For Jira 7.0 or later, the app tier should match the maximum tier of the licensed Jira products on your instance. For example, if you're running Jira Software (500 users) and Jira Service Desk (25 agents) on the same instance, you should purchase the 500-user tier for apps. For versions of Jira prior to 7.0, the app tier should match the licensed user tier for Jira. Even if fewer users want to use the app than your Jira license, the two licenses should match exactly. Note: While this app has features specific to Jira Service Desk, the app is technically available across the whole Jira instance. Therefore the above guidelines for the license tier still apply.

Can I install this app in a Data Center product?

Yes, this app has a Data Center approved version. If you're using a Data Center product, you should install the Data Center version of the app.

Learn more about Data Center approved apps

What type of license do I need if I'm using this app in a Data Center product?

Because this app has a Data Center approved version, you should purchase a Data Center license for the app.

If you already own a server license for this app, you can continue using the server license in your Data Center product for a limited period of time.

Do you offer academic, community, or open-source licenses for server apps?

For server apps, academic licenses are available at a 50% discount if you have an academic license for your Atlassian product.

Community and open-source licenses are available for server apps. Learn more about community and open source licenses.

Can I extend my free trial?

For server apps, you can extend your app trial up to 5 times - in other words, for up to six months. Extend your trial by generating a new evaluation license key from Atlassian Marketplace. Click Try it free and you'll be directed to generate a new license. Paste this license key into the app listing in UPM from your Atlassian product, and you're all set.

How can I buy apps for my legacy Jira Server or Confluence Server license?

If you own a legacy Jira Server Unlimited (100+ users) or Confluence Server Unlimited (2000+ users) license purchased in 2012 or earlier, legacy app pricing is no longer available. You have two options for app purchasing:

    • Purchase the app at the non-legacy Unlimited (10000+ users) tier.
    • Renew your Jira or Confluence license at a non-legacy tier, then purchase the app at the same tier.
