Key highlights of the appWrite Jira issue descriptions in plain Markdown, with a live preview
Markdown in, Jira out
Type the Markdown you already know. It is saved as native Jira content, so teammates without the app still see a normal, fully formatted description. The live preview shows exactly what will be stored.
Nothing to set up
Install it and the panel is on every work item. No custom fields, no renderer to choose, no admin configuration, and it behaves the same on team-managed and company-managed projects.
It does not eat your content
Attachments, panels and other rich blocks that Markdown cannot express are carried through untouched instead of being dropped on save, and a banner tells you when that is happening.
More details
Jira has no plain Markdown editor, and the long-standing request for one is not on Atlassian’s roadmap. If you write work items all day, this gives you the syntax you already use in READMEs, pull requests and chat. Supported: headings; bold, italic and strikethrough; inline code and fenced code blocks with a language; ordered, bulleted and nested lists; task lists with working checkboxes; block quotes; tables; links; mentions; rules; hard line breaks. Careful by design: before saving, the work item is re-read and you are asked before overwriting an edit someone else made while you were typing. Attachments, panels and macros that Markdown cannot express are carried through untouched instead of being dropped, and a banner tells you when that is happening. Errors are written in plain language. Keyboard: Cmd/Ctrl+S saves; Copy Markdown copies the whole description. Privacy: nothing is stored and nothing is sent to any third party. Language: English. Version information
Version 2.6.0•for Jira Cloud
- Release date
- Aug 17th 2026
- Summary
- Fixes text corruption and adds an in-panel confirmation
- Details
Fixes issues found in testing. Text is now stored exactly as typed: apostrophes, quotation marks, ampersands and angle brackets were previously saved as HTML entities, and link addresses containing a query string could be corrupted. Neighbouring formatting is now written once around the whole run rather than per word, which previously left stray characters that grew on each save. The confirmation shown when someone else has edited the description, and when discarding unsaved changes, is now rendered inside the panel; it previously relied on a browser dialog that Forge blocks, which could leave the panel waiting indefinitely. Opening and saving a description repeatedly now leaves it byte for byte unchanged. Also adds light and dark theme support that follows your Jira appearance setting.
