Key highlights of the appEdit source code, logs, and text file attachments directly inside the Jira issue view
Edit attachments directly in Jira
Open text and code attachments in a full-screen editor with syntax highlighting for 20+ languages. Save over the original or keep a copy, with Ctrl+S.
Edit together without losing work
If a teammate saved the same file while you were editing, you get both versions side by side instead of a silent overwrite. Combine them and save, or keep yours as a copy.
Every text file on the work item, one click away
The panel lists the work item's text and code attachments with who saved them and when. Edit, open a copy, or just read, depending on your permissions.
More details
Safe saves when several people edit the same file, with side-by-side compare and merge.
With Attachment Text Editor, you have:
- Protected saves. Before overwriting a file, the editor checks whether someone else saved a newer
version since you opened it. If so, nothing is overwritten: you see their version next to yours, combine
them, and choose to save the combined version, keep editing on top of theirs, or save yours as a copy. - Deleted files. If someone removes the file while you edit, your text is kept and you can save it as a
new file. - Read-only viewing. People who can see a work item but not add attachments can now open its text files to read them.
- Who and when. The file list and the editor show who saved each version and when.
