Key highlights of the appJQL date functions in business days: due in ten working days, not ten calendar days, skipping weekends and your holidays
One calendar for the whole site
One working week, one time zone and one holiday list for the whole site, not per project or per team. Teams in two countries share one answer, so one gets the wrong day boundary. The config page states it in section A.
Four functions, typed into the JQL box
businessDaysAgo, businessDaysFromNow, workingDaysAgo and workingDaysFromNow work on date fields with all six comparison operators, in ad-hoc search and in saved filters. One character is enough for autocomplete.
Stored answers keep themselves up to date
A date function’s answer moves as the calendar moves. The app refreshes its stored answers on its own, resuming where the previous run stopped and wrapping round at the end, so every stored answer is reached in turn.
More details
Jira’s own JQL can answer “due in ten days” but not “due in ten working days”. This app adds four date functions you type straight into the JQL box.
businessDaysAgo(n) and businessDaysFromNow(n) count n working days back or forward from today. workingDaysAgo and workingDaysFromNow are aliases, so whichever name your team reaches for first works. Each returns a date, takes an optional calendar argument, and accepts all six comparison operators on any date field, in ad-hoc search and in saved filters alike. One character of a name is enough for Jira’s autocomplete to offer it.
You set one working week, one time zone and one holiday list on the app’s own page under Apps. Nothing is configured per project.
One working week and one holiday list cover the whole site: teams in different countries will get the same answer. That is the app’s main limitation, stated on the config page too.
Runs entirely on Atlassian infrastructure. No external service, no remote hostnames, no analytics.

- Summary
- First release: four JQL functions that count working days, not calendar days
- Details
Minor version updateFirst release.
Four JQL date functions that count in working days rather than calendar days: businessDaysAgo(n), businessDaysFromNow(n), and the aliases workingDaysAgo(n) and workingDaysFromNow(n). Each returns a date, takes an optional calendar argument, and accepts all six comparison operators on any date field, in ad-hoc search and in saved filters. Typing one character of a name is enough for Jira’s autocomplete to offer it.
One working week, one time zone and one holiday list, set on the app’s own page under Apps. Holidays are one YYYY-MM-DD date per line; lines that are not dates are listed back to you with the reason rather than silently dropped.
Stored answers refresh on their own. Each run resumes where the previous one stopped and wraps round at the end, so every stored answer is reached in turn, and the page reports how many rows a run did not reach.
Runs entirely on Atlassian infrastructure: no external service, no remote hostnames, no analytics.
