Ensemble: Component Hierarchy for Jira

Jira components are a flat list, and a flat list stops describing a product the moment it has more than a handful of parts. Ensemble arranges a project's native components into a tree, shows the board's sprints and backlog beside that tree, and lets you assign, rank and move work by dragging.

The components stay ordinary Jira components. Ensemble only records which one sits under which, so boards, filters, automation and other apps keep working exactly as before. Counts roll up through the tree, selecting a component includes its children, and a JQL function, component in componentTree("Platform"), lets boards, dashboards and automation rules follow the hierarchy too.

On Scrum boards the active sprint, future sprints and backlog appear side by side, so you can rank work, move it between sprints and create new items with the right component already set, without leaving the page. Kanban boards show work grouped by status.
