Export any search to a ready-to-edit workbook
Pick the fields and download a workbook with dropdowns of allowed values, grey read-only cells and real dates. The workbook knows its columns, so there is nothing to map when you upload it.
Review every change before it is saved
Upload the edited file and see each changed cell next to its exported value. Values Jira would reject and edits to read-only cells are listed separately and never sent.
No silent overwrites
Each cell is compared with the export and with Jira now. If a colleague changed an issue while you worked in Excel, you see a conflict and decide whether to overwrite it.
More details
Jira’s CSV import updates existing issues only for administrators. Edit Issues in Excel lets anyone who can edit the issues do it from a spreadsheet.
- In issue search, choose Apps, then Edit Issues in Excel, pick the fields and download the workbook (up to 5,000 issues).
- Edit it in Excel, LibreOffice or Numbers.
- Upload it, review the changes, conflicts and errors, and apply. Download a report of the results.
Changes are made as you, with your Jira permissions, and appear in each issue’s history. Uploading the same workbook again is safe: changes already in Jira are skipped.
Editable: summary, description, priority, labels, components, versions, assignee, reporter, due date and common custom field types. Status and other fields stay read-only.
The app runs in your browser. It has no vendor backend, external API calls or app data store. Free for sites with up to 10 users.
