Retention Policy keeps Jira projects clean without anybody remembering to do it. An administrator writes a rule once — a name, a JQL filter, a schedule — and the app applies it from then on, logging every run.
Rules are written in JQL: one free-text field per rule, not separate drop-downs. That is what lets a rule express project, status, resolution, age or label in any combination. Preview shows the match count before you save.
What "archiving" means depends on your plan. Jira's native bulk-archive API is Premium-only. The app tries it first and on Standard falls back to a workflow transition into a status whose name contains "Archived" — so on that plan your workflow needs such a status before a rule can do anything. The log records which route each run took.
Scheduled jobs run once a day, so a rule fires on or after its due date, up to 100 issues per run. Managing rules needs Jira admin rights. Built by Ballon Apps, in English.
