More details
Sign for Jira now supports predefined signature meanings — a structured alternative to the previous free-text reason field, designed to meet FDA 21 CFR Part 11 §11.50 ("Signature manifestations"). Administrators can define a set of meanings such as "Approved", "Reviewed", or "Verified" that signers choose from, ensuring consistency and traceability across all signed documents.

- Mar 23rd 2026
- Summary
- Predefined Signature Meanings
- Details
- Space administrators can define a list of meanings in Space Settings, each with a short Label (e.g., "Approval") and a detailed Statement (e.g., "I approve this record and confirm that the information is accurate and complete."). Three defaults ship out of the box: Approval, Review, and Author.
- When signing, users select a meaning from a dropdown instead of typing free text. The selected meaning's ID, label, and statement are permanently captured in the signature record, ensuring every signature carries a clear, controlled declaration of intent.
