Key highlights of the appSend only the public comments of a JSM request, without internal notes, to Jira Automation emails and comments
Include only public comments
Only comments marked public are returned. Internal notes are excluded by a filter in the Jira API request and a second check in the app’s own code.
Choose what to include
Set how many recent comments to include (1-50, default 10) and show or hide author names and timestamps. Agent replies can be included or excluded.
Use transcripts in Automation
The action returns the conversation as plain text and HTML-escaped text, plus a comment count, so later Automation steps such as emails or comments can use it.
More details
PublicThread helps Jira Service Management teams reuse customer-visible request conversations in Automation rules for digest emails, handoff notes, and weekly reports.
Add the “Get Public Conversation (PublicThread for JSM)” action with a request key (such as {{issue.key}}). It returns conversationText (plain text), conversationHtml (HTML-escaped text for email), and commentCount.
Options:
- Include the most recent 1 to 50 comments (default: 10)
- Show or hide author names and timestamps
- Exclude agent replies when customer participant information is available
Only comments marked public are included. PublicThread checks the public flag in its own code as well as using the API filter.
The app runs on Atlassian Forge, uses the connected user’s permissions, and requests a single read-only scope (read:servicedesk-request). It does not use an external server or database.
