Alexander KireevFinally, capacity planning that lives inside Jira
We’ve been trying to connect project demand with our functional teams for years — spreadsheets, exports, side tools, and nothing ever stayed in sync with Jira. Resource Management for Jira changed that for us.
What I use most is the resource request workflow: PMs submit staffing needs, team leads assign people on a timeline, and you can see overloads before you commit. That alone saved us from a few bad planning decisions. The timesheets and worklog views are also genuinely useful — I can compare what we planned vs what people actually logged, and approvals keep things tidy without forcing everyone into a separate time-tracking system.
The org structure and calendars make a difference too. Holidays, time off, and team hierarchy aren’t an afterthought — they feed into capacity, which is how it should work.
It’s a full product, not a lightweight add-on, so there’s a learning curve and some setup upfront. But once our structure and calendars were in place, day-to-day use became straightforward. Support has been responsive when we had questions.
If your company runs projects through Jira and staffing is still a spreadsheet problem, this is worth a serious look.
