The official GitLab and GitHub apps for Jira are pull-based: Atlassian’s cloud must reach your Git server’s API, which never works when Git is self-hosted behind a firewall. BastionTrail flips it: your GitLab sends an outbound webhook to us, so it just works with no inbound access or VPN.
Commits, branches, merge requests and deployments appear on the matching Jira issue. BastionTrail also builds an exportable change audit trail (commit to production, with the approver) - the evidence SOC 2, ISO 27001 and banking auditors expect. Every webhook is recorded with a readable failure reason, so it never fails silently.
Secured by Forge Invocation Token validation; we store only linking metadata, never source code, and erase all installation data on uninstall.
