Key highlights of the appDescription templates and default values per issue type fill Jira's Create dialog, until someone writes a summary or description
New issues start from your template
A default template per issue type and project fills Jira's own Create dialog seconds after it opens: summary, description, checklist, labels, priority. A note names the template. Write your own text, and it steps back.
Turn a well-written issue into a template
Project admins turn an issue the team already wrote well into a template: headings, tables and checklists kept, @mentions and attachments left out, and the issue itself unchanged.
A daily check for templates that stop working
Check now and a daily check test your templates for problems such as an issue type renamed or a field taken off the create screen. The daily check lists each new problem once, with an optional alert issue.

More details
Give each issue type a default template. A few seconds after Jira's Create dialog opens, it fills summary, description (Jira action items; formatting if saved from an issue), labels and priority, and a note names the template.
- Once someone writes their own summary or description, nothing more is written to that form.
- Admins save an issue as a template: formatting kept, @mentions and attachments left out.
- A Templates page in each project opens Create from any template. Project admins manage their own.
- A daily check flags templates that stop working (an issue type renamed, a field taken off the screen), with an optional alert issue.
- Last 50 versions kept; deleted ones restorable for 30 days.
Adds no fields and never changes existing issues. Nothing leaves Atlassian.
Only Jira's Create dialog is filled (Create button, C key), not sub-tasks or inline create on boards and backlogs. Before anyone writes, an issue type change can reset a picked priority or labels.
