Key highlights of the appPreview .msg and .eml email attachments in Confluence: subject, sender, recipients, date, body and attachments

Your .msg or .eml, displayed as an email

The macro displays the attached file as an actual email: a header band with subject, sender, recipients and date, the body with inline images, full conversation threads and attachment tiles with per-item download.

Built for real-world email files

Handles bodies in HTML, plain text or Outlook RTF, inline images, emails attached inside emails. Where a file can't be fully displayed, a plain-English message says what happened and available fields still display.

Data read from your page, no external storage

The file is read directly from the page, parsed in the reader's browser and never written to external storage by the app. Each view re-renders the attachment itself, not an extract.

More details

Attach a .msg or .eml file to a Confluence page and use the macro to display it in place: subject, sender, recipients, date, body, inline images, and an attachment list with per-item download. The attached file is retained on the page but the email is now viewable (subject to the Confluence page's permission scheme).

You can also attach a new email file from the macro's configuration screen. Save, and the file becomes an ordinary page attachment made viewable by the macro.

Where an email cannot be rendered in full, the macro names what happened rather than showing a blank. RTF-only bodies render as preserved text, nested messages are listed and not opened, and attachments above 50 MiB are refused.

For administrators: the app declares no external egress and operates no server, store or external destination. The email is read from your own Confluence, parsed in the reader's browser and written to no app storage. The macro saves only an attachment reference into the page.

Release date
Aug 20th 2026
Summary
Email card rendering, one-screen setup, upload on Save, 50 MiB attachment cap
Details

First public release.

  • Renders .msg and .eml attachments on a Confluence page as an email card: subject, sender, recipients, date, body, inline images, and an attachment list with per-item download.
  • One configuration screen: the page's attachment list with size and date, newest first, plus drag-and-drop upload of an email file from your machine.
  • Upload is deferred to Save, so nothing is transmitted while a file is being chosen, and a file above the 50 MiB attachment cap is refused in the browser before upload.
  • An oversized attachment is identified from its listed size, so in the normal case its bytes are never fetched; a byte-level check remains as the backstop.
  • Remote images in an email body are blocked until the reader chooses to load them.
  • Where a message cannot be rendered in full, the macro shows a card naming what happened.
