Prove the email channel works end to end

Two synthetic canary loops run on a schedule: a probe email must become a real request in your project, and a canary comment on a standing request must arrive as a customer notification in a monitored mailbox.

Get paged before your customers notice

When a loop stops completing, MailWatch pages a Slack webhook or an external email address. Live testing caught a silently dead channel in 10 minutes; the worst case on the fast preset is about 15 minutes.

A safety net, not a message log

Atlassian exposes no delivery status for native JSM mail (JSDCLOUD-4698), so no app can log every message. MailWatch instead tests the channel itself with real email and shows an honest worst case time per channel.

More details

MailWatch proves your Jira Service Management email channel works end to end, in both directions, and pages you within minutes when it stops.

It is not a per-message email log. Atlassian exposes no delivery status for native mail (JSDCLOUD-4698), so no app can offer one. MailWatch runs real canary email through your channel instead.

It does not read your customers' mail. It holds no mailbox credentials, changes no MX record or forwarding rule, and sits outside your mail path. It only adds its own probe traffic, and inside Jira it reads only the probe requests it created. Every permission is justified on the Privacy & Security tab.

It uses one external service, its own engine on a declared Cloudflare domain, which is why it does not carry the Runs on Atlassian badge. The engine stores probe metadata, alert targets, and an encrypted per-site secret, never ticket content.

Summary
Fewer false alerts when Atlassian is slow to report new requests
Details

MailWatch now confirms each test email even when Jira is slow to announce the request it created. Every five minutes the app looks for recent MailWatch test requests it has not processed yet and confirms them directly, so a delayed notification from Atlassian no longer looks like a broken email channel. Confirmations that arrive late are also accepted, and if a late confirmation shows a missed test was only a delay, the related incident closes and a Resolved alert is sent.
