Key highlights of the appReusable issue templates with fields and subtasks, recurring issues, and default field values on the create screen
Templates: save, apply, create, repeat
Save any issue as a template with its subtasks, then apply it to an issue, create from it, or run it on a schedule.
Default values on the create screen
Per project and issue type, empty fields on the Create dialog are pre-filled before anyone types. Unsupported field types are reported, never silently dropped.
Apply a template to any issue
Fill only the empty fields or overwrite them. Subtasks are created under the issue, and skipped fields are named with the reason.
More details
Why: JRACLOUD-4812, default values of system fields (2,798 votes, open since 2004), plus the everyday save this issue as a template ask.
Quick start
Step 1: Install on your Jira site.
Step 2: On an issue with the structure you want, choose Actions, Save as template.
Step 3: Or open Apps, Issue Templates, New template: pick fields, set values, add subtasks. Text accepts {{date}}, {{month}} and {{year}}.
Step 4: Apply it from any issue: empty fields are filled, or tick Overwrite. Subtasks are created too.
Step 5: Schedule a template daily, weekly or monthly in the Recurring tab.
Step 6: In Create-screen defaults, pick a project, an issue type and the values to pre-fill.
Limits: create-screen defaults cover the field types the Jira UI modifications API supports; unsupported types are reported, never dropped. Up to five UI modification apps can act on one project and issue type.
Runs entirely on Atlassian: Forge functions, triggers and storage in your site.

Version information
Version 2.3.0•for Jira Cloud
- Release date
- Oct 12th 2026
- Summary
- Create-screen defaults now apply to priority, components and selects
- Details
Create-screen defaults now apply. Priority, components, versions, selects and user fields were sent in a format the create screen rejected, so only text defaults appeared. Fixed, and a priority default now replaces the one Jira pre-selects.
An empty description is now filled by its default.
The defaults form accepts priority, component and version names, and the rules table shows issue type names.
