Doesn't create custom IDs for Issues whatsoever! All it does is populate the contents of a custom text field called 'Custom ID' based on a pattern. Has no effect on the native Issue IDs or their naming convention or their sequence. The text for the field can only be mass generated for all Issues in a Project and can't be automated to be generated per Issue as they are created and, if you delete an existing Issue, then generate new Custom IDs, all existing values are over-written with new ones, making any prior JQL searches, filters or linking per Issue based on the previous Custom ID totally useless. Advertised claim that this app will "Make your JIRA issue IDs more informative" is, in my opinion, bogus!

Greetings and thank you for being an early adopter. The Custom ID app is supposed to be used in conjunction with Jira to aid scenarios where you would want meaningful information in the issue IDs. You can use the custom URL as well which will redirect to the original issue. However, we understand that the current description may be misleading for new users, so we will update the description and documentation to avoid the same.

Regarding the auto-generation of new IDs upon pattern update. It is done to ensure a common pattern since it's auto-generated. We will make this behavior configurable in the next release so that the user can retain or re-generate IDs upon pattern update.

Regarding the auto-generation of IDs in newly created issues. It should be auto-generated for newly created issues. We are sorry to hear that you saw a different behavior, it could be an instance-specific bug. Please get in touch with us at support@optimizory.com and we will investigate and fix it as soon as possible.

Additionally, if you have more suggestions for improvements or new features, please share them with us. We will implement them on a priority basis at no additional cost to you. Thank you for your valuable insights. Your feedback is really important to us.
